In this case, the two-star score I gave to this text reflects simply my rating from the viewpoint of addressing the needs of those who need a basic or even thorough knowledge of radar theory and application but who are not engineers designing radar systems. It is not to be taken as a rating of the quality of the text.

This text is clearly written for engineers who design radar. It is not written for those who are just beginning to learn about radar nor will it be of value to those who need to understand how radar works and how it is used in different applications such as Air and Missile Defense or others. For example, a systems engineer, software engineering or manager involved in the development of software which must model a radar to some given level of fidelity (e.g. within a command & control system) will not find this useful. It assumes considerable engineering knowledge on the part of the reader. This is not a bad thing because, as I said, it is intended for a particular audience. While loaded with illustrations and equations, many will leave the average reader bewildered as little explanation is given (again, this is due to the targeted audience and not a reflection of the quality of the text).

If you are not an advanced engineer who is actually involved in the design of the radar, I do not recommend this text. If you need a basic introduction to radar theory and applications, or a more thorough understanding of radar theory; for example, engineers who develop software that will model a radar and/or process its output, there are other texts that would be of greter value.
