Concise yet thorough collection of New Wave, highly recommend, December 21, 1998

Listening to this cd for the first time was like stepping back to the year 1986. All the songs are good and representative of the memorable New Wave songs and bands of the early and mid 80's. A great cd for someone who wants to relive that era without buying a bunch of cds.

Dig up the DJ!, June 19, 2005
This review is from: Modern Rock 1986 (Audio CD)
If you can find these- snap them up! I have had these compilations for years- I think they only made three of them. (1986, 1987, and 1988.) I have owned them for longer than I care to admit. They survived years of heavy rotation in my CD changer, and I had to stage covert operations to snag them back from over-enthusiastic borrowers more than once. Between the three discs, a lot of great material is covered- I guarantee you'll re-discover some old favorites. If you're a fan of New Wave 80's stuff, and are familiar with the usual stale offerings of the standard compilation discs- these will be a refreshing surprise. I highly recommend all three of these CD's, and you might also want to take a look at the MTV's 120 Minutes compilations, which date back to when MTV actually had- GASP!- decent programming.

If you like this stuff..., January 29, 2003
This review is from: Modern Rock 1986 (Audio CD)
I bought this CD after hearing my friend's favorite tracks, which were: "Panic" -- The Smiths "Cities In Dust" -- Siouxsee & The Banshees "Pretty In Pink" -- The Psychedelic Furs "Peter Gunn" -- The Art Of Noise "Walk Like An Egyptian" -- The Bangles "Weird Science" -- Oingo Boingo Now, aside from those tracks, the CD pretty much stinks. Still, It's worth buying for those tracks....If you like that kind of stuff. If you don't, then don't buy it, but it's your loss.
