Product Description

For many of us, it is hard to relate to Jesus' life or other stories in the Bible because we live in a different world than they did. This book is a narrative description of Jesus' life, set in a modern day setting, in attempt to relate to our
savior's life and the huge sacrifice he made for us. This book is not meant to rewrite the Bible, but to retell the biggest event in the history of mankind in order to help people understand the magnitude of it.

Mary and Joseph are high school students living a modest and obedient life as followers of God. They are ridiculed for their God-fearing reputations, while their peers are partying and promoting promiscuous behavior. After two years at a
community college, Mary and Joseph embark on a mission trip around the world, rebuilding houses torn down by destruction of war. While on their trip, Mary finds herself sick and is scared that she might have a disease that is plaguing the area. Then she gets the confirmed diagnosis: she is pregnant...

5.0 out of 5 stars Modern and Unique, November 1, 2011
This review is from: Modern Sacrifices (Paperback)
Modern sacrificies has a unique take on the stories we've learned from the bible. The book begins with Mary and Joseph as high school students trying to make it through the pressures of normal, every-day teenagers while building their relationship with God. After graduation they venture off into the unknown and then begins the story of Jesus, from an infant into adulthood. The reader can visualize the many obstacles that Jesus faced from a different prospective as though He lived during our times. Overall this book has a refreshing twist on the story of Jesus. Great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Modern Sacrifices, November 4, 2011
This review is from: Modern Sacrifices (Paperback)
This book is a great read. It reminds me of the movies "Bruce Almighty" and "Evan Almighty," but a non-comical version. It is the story of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus in a modern day setting. I really like how the author focused on Mary and Joseph just as much as she did on Jesus. It really makes you think about the sacrifices and obstacles the young couple faced. The reason the book only got four stars is because there are a couple gramatical errors, which are hard for me to get past. I'm sure the editing company just overlooked them, but if there were no gramatical errors and it was formated perfectly, it definitely would have recieved 5 stars. The story itself is amazing, just some errors to get past.
