5.0 out of 5 stars A fun, perfect pleasure to listen to!!!, October 24, 2008
This review is from: More Modern Short Stories from (Audio CD)
You'll never believe that these songs are public because they sound like they were written with only you in mind. Compared to 'Introducing...' the production on 'More Modern Short Stories' is almost orchestral, which really allows the songs and songwriting to stretch out. Annika Norlin lets joyous humor and heartbreak live side-by-side, and has crafted one of the best albums of the year. It's a good-time album that you'll sing along to, so buy it and have a great time. After all, she made it just for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better than before, July 23, 2009

This is an amazing album. The musical creativity and offbeat lyrics still remain from the debut album, but have been mixed in with a more layered sound and better production.

10 of the 12 songs are keepers, a great ratio.

HS up till now has been campy fun, now they (she) is also musically full.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another songwriting tour-de-force for HS!, May 25, 2009
This review is from: More Modern Short Stories from (Audio CD)
I absoutely love this Swedish artist. Annika Norlin is HS and she tells true-to-life stories backed with the most glorious pop arrangements you'll find anywhere. This time around things are definitely more somber and mature--but the spark of one of the best lyricist around remains. One of the best parts of the new release is the outstanding sound quality--finally we can hear Annika's beautiful voice and amazingly intricate sound in it's full glory in this almost orchestral production.

Highlights: the rousing "2008" that Coldplay would kill for, the chanting "25 days", the uplifting "MiddleClass" and the absolutely gorgeous "Lund".

Make sure to check out her Swedish-language project 'Sakert' to hear her sing in her native tongue. Plus possibly her best song to date, the UK-only "Made For These Times" and "Pretenders" with the equally great Montt Mardie on his 'Clocks/Pretender' album are dont-miss tracks either.
