A great book to weigh in on a Kindle!, April 1, 2011
This review is from: Modern Times: A History of the World from the 1920s to the Year 2000 (Phoenix Giants) (Paperback)
If you are already a Paul Johnson fan, this book will not surprise you for its depth, insight and span of world history. I either missed World History or at least I wasn't paying attention to the level I did in this book. Things that I missed in class: The V1's of Hitler were destroying 20,000 homes per day during the London attacks, talk about weapons of mass destruction! I missed the whole understanding of the importance of the East/culture to Germany versus the West/Civilization. It appears everyone but me understood by the end of December 1941 that Germany and Japan would not/could not win the wars they had started. Stalin was one of Hitler's biggest fans. Stalin also feared Hitler the most. It is a very humbling, insightful trip through history.
