An excellent guide for the professional tug captain,

When this book was written there was no definitive guide or text for the professional tugboater. Only anecdotal information of questionable reliability was available. George "Harry" Reids "Primer of Towing" had been out for some years...and was and is exactly that--an excellent primer.
Captain Blank has done a superb job. I have used his book for years in training mates to become captains, and have found it to be very accurate information with broad spectrum coverage of many diverse aspects of the trade. It is an easy read, aimed at the tugboater who wants to learn and grow in his profession. He has made a significant contribution to the safety and efficiency of tugboating...and made it a lot easier to train crew with a quality reference. |
