I have to admit that I almost didn't buy this book since I already have the DACO F-16 book. I loved the DACO book, and thought that there was no need for a new F-16 detail book. Boy was I wrong!!! The Modern Viper Guide is truly outstanding. I didn't know how much was missing in the DACO book. I never had any idea there were different versions, or "Blocks" of F-16s until I got The Modern Viper Guide. This book has it all! Each part of the airplane is picked apart. There is even information on how the hydraulic system and environmental system works!! This is the best F-16 book I've EVER seen anywhere!!

Some years ago, I considered the Daco book to be the best photofile book for Viper modelers. This excellent reference is still very useful for older versions or European MLU ones. However, for blocks currently used by the USAF units (30-32-40-42-50-52), this book is even better as differences between such blocks are clearly described for each area. Highly recommended!!! Saying that I'm eagerly waiting for the future Hog and Eagle books is an understatement...

The Modern Viper Guide is Jake Melampy's masterpiece,a one-stop-shopping trip for info on the C and D versions of the F-16 fighter in use with the USAF today.
Melampy's crystal clear,gorgeous photography renders the Viper from every concievable angle,and he also breaks down the somewhat arcane production Block system that USAF Vipers are built under.There is also a nice section on weaponry for modern F-16s,including JDAM bombs and the AIM-9X High-Off-Boresight missiles.
Be aware,there are no scale drawings in this book,but in talking to Jake online,he could not find a set of drawings accurate enough that he felt comfortable including.Myself,I believe modelers will find everything they could wish for in the exquisite photos!

Without question the best visual reference on the F-16C/D available. Whether you are a scale modeler or an aviation enthusiast, you will love this book.

Simply perfect ! Very good publication, I hope Modern Hog Guide and Moderne Eagle Guide will appear in a second edition next year ...

This is a great book for someone that wants to learn about the F-16 fighter jet. Great pictures and lots of details. I would recommend.

This book is a must have for any modeler who's looking to do justice to the F-16 kit he/she is working on. Using the excellent full color photos, super-detailing any available F-16 kit will be a snap. It's almost information overload. I highly reccommend this book, and look forward to pickng up the other volumes in this series.

This should be a supplement to the F-16 C/D Dash One, you know, the Pilot Operating Manual. This is a very well put together and detailed look at what is inside the guts of this fantastic jet. There are lot's of photographs. It helps both laymen and pilots alike to get a visual on what this airplane is about inside. It helps me get a visual from what I might read in a manual. Any mechanical or airplane buff will enjoy this book. But also realize that there are no stories, no combat or no aerial material, but just the mechanical components on this jet. Excellent reference book full of the kinds of photos I would take if I wanted detail pictures for modelmaking.

EXCELLENT, I have many books on this plane, but this is really awesome. I don't like buying books unseen, but I'm glad I purchased this one. Photos are excellent. Highly recommended!!!
