5.0 out of 5 stars truly triumphant sophamore release, May 31, 2007

This review is from: Modernism (Audio CD)
Modernism is the second release from Denver indiepop quartet, KFAD. The album is bursting with sixties-style hooks, sounds you know you've heard before but can't quite place. The band don't wear their influences on their sleeves, however, the sound is very much their own, a wonderful balance of acoustic and electric guitars. Shimmering byrdsian 12-string guitar and tremolo-heavy hooks abound, underpinned by a powerful and inventive rhythm section. The songs are straightforward, radio-friendly and delivered without pretention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Song Listings, February 22, 2008

Thought I'd throw a track listing here, as there is none above. Both "Rise Above It All" and "Being Used" have received extensive airplay here in Denver, but the rest of the CD is just as good. Other songs are: "Hope" "Feels Like Morning" (a personal favorite) "One Of These Days" "Receiving" "A New Kind Of Metaphor" "One I Want" "Look At Me" "Tomfoolery" "Waiting For The Revolution" (another fave) "Hush" and "Mr. Popular" A great album from one of the best bands in Denver!

Great second album from these guys - I also highly recommend seeing them live if you can! Hard to describe - not quite like anyone else while still quite familiar to anyone with a penchant for good old 60s pop rock. Lyrics shine! Good friends and great musicians!
