5.0 out of 5 stars This book is chuck full of good advice and knowledge..., October 20, 1999
By
This review is from: How to Tune and Modify Your Ford 5.0 Liter Mustang (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)

Long time journalist, Steve Turner, who has been the Senior Editor at Super Ford Magazine and is now the Editor of 5.0 Mustang Magazine, has turned author and just inked this new book. Titled, How to Tune & Modify your Ford 5.0-Liter Mustang: 1979 - 1995, it details in depth tips and techniques for turning your favorite car, the Ford Mustang, into an earth shattering rocket. Whether you want to just go mild, or go extremely wild with your modifications, this book has some nice information for everyone. It looks like Mr. Turner has brought the Mustang know-how he's learned while dealing with the Mustang performance industries most knowledgeable people, and deposited it in one easy to read and understand book.

Furthermore, this book breaks down the various ways of modifying each area of the Mustang. Each chapter is dedicated to a different area, such as Induction, Cylinder Heads, Valvetrain, Forced Induction, along with others. Within each of these sections, Mr. Turner goes through most of the common ways to significantly increase the performance of the Mustang utilizing the most worth whiled aftermarket components. Giving advice on the right way to do things so you can successfully build a powerful and reliable car.

In my opinion, the minimal price of this book is well worth avoiding costly mistakes, either via the purchase of incorrect components or from just plain doing things the wrong way. Remember, a little education goes a long way towards success. And, this book is chuck full of good advice and knowledge!

Congrats Steve, nice job!
- Editor, MustangWorks

5.0 out of 5 stars The only 5.0 book you'll ever need!, November 21, 2000

This review is from: How to Tune and Modify Your Ford 5.0 Liter Mustang (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
As a loyal fan to the 5.0 Mustang; I found this book to be highly educational. Steve Turner gives you the facts; what works and what doesn't, for the small and big budgeted 5.0 enthusiast. I read this book four times over in the first three weeks I owned it. This is an excellent book for anybody who loves 5.0 Mustangs; giving you a brief overview of their history before unleashing you to the masses of useful information it holds. I appreciate how it kept the driveway mechanic in mind. It's the type of book that if you put it down it's because you're running to your Stang; wrench in hand! You won't be disappointed.

If you guys think about it, the book only costs 16 dollars.... and the wealth of knowledge inside this book is imcomparable to the book's price. On the other hand most people that have been racing for a couple years already know everything thats in the book. Overall it is well written and gives beginning racers the knowledge they need to be competitive. Did i forget to mention that the book is new? that means it has all the newest parts! thats why i gave it 5 stars; its current, well written, and informative
