5.0 out of 5 stars No more messy bags!
I have a canister on my kitchen counter for regular flour, but I also regular use bread flour and wheat flour, both of which I was storing in my pantry in their original bags, which generally left a big mess behind every time I went to use either one. My sister gave me the idea of storing the flours in containers instead, but it was hard to find something just right--the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Product - Shipping Costs Spoil the Deal
I wanted some Snapware containers to store the flour in my pantry. I figured that I'd be able to save some money over The Container Store and the price was right. The shipping costs are nearly as much as the item though (plastic is that heavy?), so it's off to the Container Store I go.

5.0 out of 5 stars No more messy bags!, March 8, 2010
This review is from: Wide Modular Airtight Flip-Top Flour Canister by Snapware (Kitchen)
I have a canister on my kitchen counter for regular flour, but I also regular use bread flour and wheat flour, both of which I was storing in my pantry in their original bags, which generally left a big mess behind every time I went to use either one. My sister gave me the idea of storing the flours in containers instead, but it was hard to find something just right--the container had to fit an entire (5-lb.) bag of flour, and it had to easily fit in my pantry.

These containers are perfect! They are definitely a good size, with plenty of room for a bag of flour (and then some, so no problem if I have some leftover from the previous bag). However, at only 9" high, they are also a bit on the squat side, so no problem fitting them on my pantry shelf. As with all Snapware products, the easy-locking lid provides easy on-off access AND forms a tight seal. Plus, this product has the added bonus of a Flip-Top, so whenever I need to measure flour, I don't even have to remove the entire lid--I simply unsnap the convenient Flip-Top! I am so happy I purchased these; I had actually purchased another product first, but I returned those once I found these canisters. They are sturdy, well-made, and so good that I plan to purchase other containers in this same line.

One container was purchased to store a mix of specialty flours needed in baking for gluten-sensitivities. This container was just the right size to store enough of a gluten-free blend of flour to be able to make bread anytime. The opening is large enough to reach a scoop inside and take the right amount of the blend. Quality is really good, you will not go wrong with this product. Several smaller containers were ordered to store the specialty flours that go into the bread mix, everything stays fresh.

Snapware canister is perfect for flour and sugar. The lid secures
nice on the sides. The pop open flap is a snap to open and close
and large enough to get your little measuring cup into. Just perfect.
Nice, light, easy and convenient. Not overly heavy, thick or hard to use.
Great size. Would buy again.

Purchased a couple of these containers to hold 5-lb bags of protein shake powder. Everything stays fresh to the last scoop.

I love these canisters. They're perfect for flours, sugar, etc. The flip-top is a nice extra because it means you don't have to take off the whole lid to access flour. I recommend keeping a 1-cup dry measure in each canister- saves on cleaning!
