Are you interested in saving 20 percent on constructing your new custom home? Or maybe, you prefer better built construction? Or possibly, cutting your construction time in half is appealing to you? If this is the case, welcome to one of the best kept secrets in new home construction... the modular home! Indeed all of the above are features of building your dream home through modular home design and construction.

Modular Homes The Future Has Arrived will open your eyes to the progressive industry of modular homes. Not only have home builders and homeowners embraced this modern day technique, but so have architects and home designers. Modular homes in many regions represent more than 10 percent of all new homes constructed and are rapidly growing in number!

Modular homes are start-of-the-art custom homes that focus on high quality and efficiency of cost. These are not the manufactured homes of the past. It is likely that many modular homes are already in your neighborhood, and you would never know the difference. If you desire a new dream home at the lowest price and highest quality, then modular is for you. Let Modular Homes The Future Has Arrived show you why the modular home industry offers you the best advantage in new home construction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful, July 23, 2008
This review is from: Modular Homes: The Future Has Arrived (Paperback)
The book really targeted the key issues I was looking to address in deciding about a new home. My uncle had told me that he was thinking about a modular home, and I was ready to build a new home as well. I read "Modular Homes" and sent him my copy because it really was great at covering all the bases.

The history section of the book which is in the early part was of little benefit overall for me but was still interesting by providing a perspective in home building. But the most helpful part was the part describing the process and the chapter detailing all the benefits. These helped me understand why modular is doing so well.

I have picked a modular home to build, and my uncle still has to read the book. If you are wanting to know what modular homes are, and why they are better, this book is easy to understand and very thorough. It also was quick to read at the same time. I think someone ready to build would enjoy the stuff described.

5.0 out of 5 stars An informative peek into the future of residential real estate, July 22, 2008

This review is from: Modular Homes: The Future Has Arrived (Paperback)
I have to admit, this is not the type of book that would usually replace David McCollough on my summer reading list. However, with two small children, our family is rapidly outgrowing our condo, and, with single-family homes in Massachusetts being so expensive, my wife and I have begun to look more intently into modular home ownership. If your situation is at all like ours, this book is near-required reading for you.

Michael and Atilla do a fantastic job of giving the "30,000 foot view" of the industry, and they do it in a way that clearly conveys their status as subject-matter experts, without ever lapsing into jargon or insider-speak that would make the message harder to understand.

In many respects, this book reads more like a well-constructed white paper that might appear in the Harvard Business Review, or some other publication of that ilk. It offers both strategic insight and tactical advice that can help you and your family cut through a great deal of the misinformation that exists about modular homes, and allow you to make an informed decision about what is best for you and your family. In an area where a wrong decision can cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars, this $20 book offers a guaranteed return on investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good information..., July 17, 2008
This review is from: Modular Homes: The Future Has Arrived (Paperback)
I give "Modular Homes" a thumb's up. Here is what I liked about it. It was easy to understand, a quick read, and it explained what modular homes are and what they are about. I thought modular homes were manufactured homes, or mobile homes, until I read the cover. But these are nothing like mobile homes. The book even goes into how modular homes evolved and how they differ from these other homes that seem to be tornado magnets.

Anyway, points well covered included the quality, durability, design, cost savings, time savings and the building process of these homes. If you don't have a great idea about modular homes and how they compare and differ from regular homes after reading this book, I would be amazed. Everything is simplified enough yet gives great details and examples.

I was going to build a new home, but have decided to wait when real estate gets better. When I do I am confident I will build modular unless something new comes along before then.
