This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Joint Modular Languages Conference, JMLC 2000, held in Zurich, Switzerland in September 2000. The 20 revised full papers presented together with two invited papers and an abstract of one invited talk were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 54 submissions. The papers are organized in sections on parallel and distributed computing, components, extensions and applications, and compilers and runtime environments.
