moe. is worth the dough!,

This review is from: Moe: Live From the Fillmore (DVD)
"Live from the Fillmore" is a very good snapshot of a moe. show. In terms of benefits, the setlist is satisfying. Many songs from the moe. canon are featured. The highlight may be 'Timmy Tucker > Tailspin.' While not a five star setlist, the selections demonstrate music with extended improvisation and good song craftsmanship. Also, the audio quality is excellent. Currently, this is the only way to enjoy the band in a surround sound environment. The audio editor did good work; typically, the audience is enjoyed in the rear speakers while the band is heard from the front. In terms of drawbacks, the video quality is mediocre. Pixilation is apparent to the extent that "Live from the Fillmore" often looks like a good fan generated download. Fortunately, the video editing and original videography is well done -the problem seems to lie in the final transfer. Some of the interviews are informative as when the band discusses their formation. Other parts are predictable, as when the audience is described as being the sixth member. While moe. has played better shows, this is still a persuasive view of a great live band. For the uninitiated and fans alike, "Live from the Fillmore" is a compelling portrait of one of the scene's best jambands.

I have to contradict the other review. I thought it was shot fine, but the sound was not good. Moe is a two guitar band and I believe the strength of the band is the way the two guitar players play off each other. On the DVD, Al is real loud, but Chuck's guitar is almost completely inaudible. This is a real big disappointment to me. I really like moe, but I would not recomend this DVD except for those who have to have it. It's a real shame.

hmm.... i guess i'd have to disagree with both of the other reviews here. the video is terrific, and i can hear all instruments clearly and well on my home theatre system- the dts sound production is a huge plus. i have more concert dvd's than i know what to do with, and this one really rates right up there among the best. these guys are on fire! moe lays it down thick, fluid and smooth. very well worth the money.....
