Why does Amazon think that this is a toy? It is a scale model kit of a vehicle from a (great) movie. I suppose you could hold it in your hand and zoom it around the room pretending that you're hopping around the moon but really, that's not what it's for. It's for display purposes only (to borrow a line from Toy Story 2).

Moebius re-popped the old Aurora kit of the Moonbus from the movie 2001, A Space Odyssey. They've improved it a bit here and there and they've added alternate (more accurate?) windows but otherwise, it's the old kit - so it's as good as the old kit was (only better because it's actually available). It's molded in all white plastic as opposed to Aurora's gray and green. Moebuis makes good kits and this is no exception.

Although it was sold through Amazon, the kit actually came from MegaHobby and they packaged it nicely and shipped it out pretty darn quick.

I had one of these kits when I was very young, getting it as a Christmas present not too long after first seeing the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". At one time, the out-of-production kit was going for $500. I was glad to see it reissued after so many years. The molding quality appears to be very good and there are even corrections to some configuration errors present on the original model.

I do believe this is the moon bus that was in Stanley Kubriks 2001 Space Odyssey. I purchased it because all the models that were used in the movie were immediately destroyed, so there is not a whole lot of models from that movie and it would be kind of nice to have an actual 2001 Space Odyssey model in my collection. Nice model too, about the same size and scale as my Space 1999 models of the Eagle.
