5.0 out of 5 stars No real complaints, October 1, 2007

It's a durable fuel tank. No real complaints. Easily worth the price; just remember you need a brass fitting to connect to the black fuel gauge assembly, (it's just a threaded hole, ready for a 1/4" NPT brass fitting) as well as hose, primer bulb, fitting for your specific motor, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Which one do I get?, March 25, 2011

This review is from: Moeller Scepter Topside Marine Fuel Tank with Gauge (6.6-Gallon) (Sports)
There's a boat load (no pun intended) of choices to be made so which one do I get may be the question and of course, the answer is found in the question, how will you use it? In my case, it's being used as an extended run, aux fuel tank for an emergency generator. The generator gets eight hours out of a 6.5 gallon fill and with the addition of this fuel tank, the run time is effectively extended from eight to sixteen hours. This is enough run time to allow for the filling of both tanks in the evening and one can forget about it until well into the next morning. This is a good thing. :)

Overall, I find the fuel pick-up supply fitting to be rock solid. My opinion, the fuel tank is the perfect size for putting the tank into the back of the car or truck so as to go to the gas station for a fill. And because of it's low profile design, one can safely schlep 6.6 gals of gas around in car or boat without fear of it falling over and dumping it's contents. I'd prefer a larger tank but things of this nature start getting heavy fast and loading a fifteen gallon tank into the car, lacks practicality. Yes, I'd prefer the larger tank. :)

The fuel tank comes equipped with a 1/4" NPT supply fitting so with appropriate fittings and hoses, one can easily custom adapt the tank to fit their particular needs. The fill cap is equipped with an adjustable vent plug; easy open, easy close. It has a fuel gauge, which is cool, but one only needs to pick up the tank to tell how much gas is left in the tank. But hey, let's not discount the cool factor.

Overall, I find this product to be a well thought out, well constructed and reasonably priced portable marine fuel tank. If one is simply looking for a portable aux gas tank for either boat or professional/home, stationary small engine needs, this is a reasonably priced, quality solution.

I purchased this 6.6 gallon plastic tank to replace the 3 gallon metal one in my bass boat. It was a great purchase. I would recommend it to anyone. I can mix the 50:1 ratio without measuring.

I used this tank shortly after purchasing it, I loved it. It is such a nice step up from the old metal tanks, very easy to carry. Great buy, I would highly recommend it...

This is a great tank. It lays flat or stands upright (not while in use, though), has a functional gauge, and a well-designed baffled cap. It uses a standard 1/4" NPT fitting which allows it to be adapted to many uses. Very pleased with this product.

Compact enough to fit behind my seat in my RiverHawk boat. Very well made and easy to handle and I have had no problems with any leaks. I decided I wanted to move to a non-metal tank since my previous one rusted out on the bottom. This fuel tank should last me for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Aux Fuel Tank, September 28, 2010

Contrary to some reviews, I have found this tank does not leak when properly filled and transported. In fact, it is airtight. I bought two of these tanks and fitted them with self-closing hydraulic fittings on the tank and fuel lines to supply a generator/inverter (Honda EU2000i) for emergency communications use. They worked perfectly! We can now run 72 hours without the dangers of refueling, and can move the tank away from the generator to refuel. Also added a silicon bronze static dissipation rod for those rare instances when the tank cannot be placed directly on the ground; the rod can be connected to a ground stake in that instance. Overall, this tank is well built and has given us no problems whatsoever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moeller 6.6 gal fuel tank from Amazon, December 9, 2011

This 6.6 gal tank fits perfectly between the rear bench and the transom of my 16 foot triple wide Lowe jon boat. The volume allows for easy 50:1 fuel mixture of 16 oz. oil to 6 gallon gasoline with ample room for reserve and expansion. The design makes the tank easy to remove for filling outside the boat. Amazon made the purchase easy, quick and reasonable.

Quality product at a great price...I also like the "oversize" capacity as compared to many 5 or 6 gallon tanks.

Very well made yet inexpensive tank. I am using it as an extended run fuel tank for my generator even though it is made for marine use.

The fuel gauge is a simple but effective float device

The cap has a vent valve that you can open and close with a twist

The crease at the bottom of the tank creates a reserve so that if you lose track and run out of fuel, you can simply tilt the tank so the fuel washed over the crease and gain access to about a gallon of gas.

I will purchase a second one, add some Sta-Bil to the fuel and keep both tanks full and in my shead. In a year or so I will dump the fuel into my car's tank and refill these.
