One would think that for the money Moen charges for their products they would come up with a better attachment device. By the time you get this thing installed you will have messed up the finish so bad you will wish you hadn't started.

The whole unit has to be attached at the same time. They don't even include a template for you to use when drilling the holes.

To install the unit you first move the cover plates back so you can get at the attachment unit. Make sure the finish isn't scratched by the plates. Cover everything with painters tape and then tape the plates so they don't get in your way. Mark where to drill through the attachment plates, drill your holes. Use diamond drill bits if going through any wall tile. Be very careful when marking as you will only get one shot if going through tile..... here is where a template would come in real handy, but nooooooo, the great Moen company can't provide that. Next, predrill for the screws after you get through the wall tile. While you're spending more money at the store for the diamond drill bit get one of those extra long phillip screw drivers for your drill. Otherwise you're going to scratch the heck out of the Grab Bar.

Moen should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such a sh.....y product.

Well built and very attractive. I would have given it 5 stars except for two drawbacks.

Moen should offer these bars in lengths equal to standard wall stud spacings, i.e. 16 inch and 32 inch since this decorative version doubles as a towel holder.

My 24 inch bar required the fabrication of a stout backer board which was attached to the wall studs to provide an appropriate foundation for the bar

Later, I learned of Moen's "Secure Mount" device which would have saved considerable expense and effort in mounting the bar.

Recommend that Moen include this "Secure Mount" as a standard part of the product...or at least highlight it in their sales information, so the buyer can have a choice on how to mount it.

Otherwise, I am very pleased with the product.

The words "Pretty" and "grab bar" together - seem like an oxymoron. This one really is pretty. It doesn't look industrial like most do and is solid! highly recommend.
