The frame is tubular powder-coated steel (? aluminum?), about 1/2 inch in diameter and very sturdy. The "lines" are very heavy gauge wire perhaps 3 mm in diameter; about the gauge of a chain link fence or a bit heavier.
Total, there are about 45 "lines" (they'll overlap a bit depending on how you set it up), each 22 in wide. A men's medium or large shirt will fit unfolded, but not an extra large. You can also dry huge things like comforters and sheets by leaving the "wings" flat and draping the items across the top.
-Versatility! The "wings" can be set up at a variety of heights, either horizontal or diagonal. Or, you can leave the wings down and have just an a-frame shape.
-Super sturdy. I hung 8 wet shirts on hangers from one end yesterday and it did not tip at all. My cat walked around on the top of it, too (of course), and it stayed very stable.
-It's huge! No other drying rack can come close to the size of this one.
-Lots of places to hang stuff. If you use every line you can hang 2-3 loads of wash, more if you hang some things on hangers.
-Easy to fold and unfold, no assembly required. It's about 4 in wide when closed. Fits easily in my tiny laundry closet next to the washer.
-Price. It's reasonable but could be cheaper.
-It's pretty big, especially if you live in a small apartment with not much floor space.
-The wires will probably leave lines in your clothes, but that's true no matter how you line dry.
I can't think of any more cons! I'm very happy with this drying rack.
Now using for over a year and I have become more efficient at loading it, so maybe I should reassess what I said above about loads, although drying times would be sacrificed. The rack has spent the entire time outdoors in all-season weather. A little rust here and there but it can definitely hold up to being left outdoors in the elements.
In my opinion, this rack gives you the most space for the least amount of money. I have fit 3 loads of wet laundry (minus the shirts, because I just stick them on the hangers to dry) on the rack at one time! And even though my husband and I are bigger people, our clothes fit well with no overlapping. And not only do clothes easily fit, but the rack is sturdy and doesn't tip easily. I have loaded heavy stuff on one side before loading the other side and it does not budge! Do note though: if you try to move it while loaded it could be a little top heavy and may tip, so just set it up where you want it to be before hanging clothes.
And the whole rack is sturdy! The rungs seem to be welded on well and there are no sharp edges for clothes to get caught. I have been using this rack now for once to twice a week for 3 months and still don't have any bent rungs. It holds heavy bath towels and floor mats, even on the outside rungs (not tipping once again!). Once I draped our king size comforter over it and our 13 lbs. cat decided to take a nap directly in the top middle of the rack (where there are no rungs). The rack did not tip or move. The kitty was quite happy with her little napping hammock!
Plus, the adjustable racks make this a very versatile clothing rack! I have lots of options on how to set it up and hang different types of clothing! Everything has fit without a problem! And if you adjust a side to sit straight out, the drying rack can almost act as a folding rack as well.Read more ›

Why is it so expensive? Here is some advice for redesign:
1. Plastic hinges? After paying this much? Make them with aluminum PUHLEEEEZ.
