MOG IS GREAT,
By
This review is from: Mog the Forgetful Cat: 30th Anniversary Edition (Hardcover)
WE REALLY ENJOY THIS BOOK. I AGREE W/ THE LAST REVIEWER, "DRAT THAT CAT" SOUNDS BETTER, SO WE SAY THAT INSTEAD OF "BOTHER THAT CAT". ANOTHER GREAT BOOK BY KERR IS 'THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA'.

Cutest little line of books I've ever read!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mog, the forgetful cat (Hardcover)
Mog is a very cute little cat that always gets into trouble and somehow saves the day, accidentally, and gets a reward, this is the perfect book for a baby or toddler. I was read this book 13 years ago when I was a little kid. I love this book.

Drat That Publisher,

This review is from: Mog the Forgetful Cat: 30th Anniversary Edition (Hardcover)
This book was one of my favorites as a child, so I purchased a copy to give my four year old niece for Christmas. I couldn't believe they changed the best part of the story, and replaced it with "Bother That Cat"I had my original copy for years, and read it often when I worked as a nanny or in daycare. The children always loved shouting "Drat That Cat!" at Mog's antics. Disappointed.

A wonderful book! I read it as a child and still pleased each time I think about it. Great story and illustrations. I'm going to get 3 copies if I can, one each for my niece and nephew, and of course, one for me!!

This is a BRITISH book. It was ALWAYS "bother.",
By Phaedrusnyc (New York, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mog the Forgetful Cat (Hardcover)
The people complaining about the "change" from "drat" to "bother" might want to educate themselves before they complain. This is a BRITISH book. The original text was ALWAYS "bother." It hasn't been changed- it's been changed back, because modern publishers assume Americans are now bright enough to understand that people in different countries use different expressions from Americans. What's even more ludicrous is the people who are complaining of "political correctness," as though there is something "politically incorrect" about the word "drat." People really need to stop turning everything into a political conspiracy, and they really ought to actually know the facts before they speak.

This review is from: Mog the Forgetful Cat (Board book)
I love cats, especially female tabbies. Mog looks so much like my parents' female cat. Her pose on the cover looks exactly as our cat looks. A great throwback to my childhood. This is a story about a cute, friendly, gentle cat named Mog, who is loved by her family (the Thomases), but also tends to get in the way. She eats Nicky's breakfast, for example. However, the Thomas' love for her is always shown afterwards. When she plays the unplanned role of heroine (stopping a burglar in his tracks), the Thomases realize fully just how important Mog is to the family.

A funny & loving story about a cat and her family.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mog, the forgetful cat (Library Binding)
I had this book when I was a child, and it was my favorite. It's a funny story about a big cat trying to be part of the family, but who always seems to be in the way. Until she saves the day and is given a medal. Then everyone wants to be around her.

*I* didn't forget Mog,
By Cat Ide (AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mog the Forgetful Cat: 30th Anniversary Edition (Hardcover)
I must have gotten Mog when I was 3 or 4 years old. I loved it as a little kid, I still get a kick out of it now. My nieces love cats, as I do, and so it's a joy to find it's still in print. Anyone who knows a cat can identify with Mog, the perpetually absent-minded cat with the 10-second attention span. Miraculously, she saves her owners *because* she's not the brightest bulb on the billboard.I plan on ordering (eventually) a few copies...mine has survived 25 years, been on cross-country moves, chewed on by the family dog, and it's still a family treasure. Hopefully it'll be in print for another 30 years. |
