Great Aerobic Workout,
This review is from: Mogo Scooter (Ships in Assorted Colors) (Misc.)
Fun and Unique outdoor workout "machine"Myself: Overweight 44 year old male, 223 pound 5'7" surfer with bad knees from sports, car and track bicycle accidents and various knee surgeries. My wife got the Mogo Scooter for me. Doc said to loose weight and lower the blood pressure. The Exercise: It's hard for me to run, but I can really get my blood pumping with the Mogo. I feel that it is a low impact exercise too. My knees don't hurt afterwards. The quads and calves get a workout, because you do bend your knees to push. I can feel it on my glutes too. The arms get a little work out, because the arms are pulling then pushing on the handlebars to get a full extension from the leg push. I have owned the Mogo for 2 weeks. I use it once a day 30-40 minutes a day. I have lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks. I use to weigh 230 pounds, now I weigh 223 pounds. I have cut down on the amount of food per serving too, but I'm not really dieting. The Mogo Packaging: Crappy packaging; the box came with a huge hole in the center. Luckily, the Mogo was not damaged. The frame was wrapped in thin foam. The front fender was bent, but I did not attach it anyways. Instructions did not come with it. But really easy to put together, just pop the front and rear wheels on and the handle bars. The Mogo Scooter: I got a blue one. The paint job is very nice. Tighten all bolts and screws, especially the platform screws. The Mogo is very easy to use and fun. It is faster than any Razor like scooters, and even most joggers at the park. I cannot compare the Mogo to a regular bicycle. If you want to go far and fast, get a bicycle. My short 3-5 mile workout is pretty good. I'll go longer once I build my stamina. Very very slow going uphill, it's better to walk the kick bike at times. Because of the low feet platform, the bottom scrapes uprooted sidewalks. I really recommend the Mogo Scooter as a unique workout. It's cheap too. I might get another one for the kids. I already attached a bike front light for exercising at night. I will attach a speedometer and odometer next. 7 pounds lost in 2 weeks and more to go. Got to go Mogo!! Need to exercise! Bye!

Go-Go MOGO Scooter!!!,
This review is from: Mogo Scooter (Ships in Assorted Colors) (Misc.)
This thing is awesome!I will be the first to admit, it is kinda wierd looking, but it is very fun, and provides a very good workout. It cannot go nearly as fast as a bike, but the feeling it provides is truly unique, and you will be impressed by how much of a workout you will get from it. I replaced the handlebars with a set of bars from a bmx bike, because I am fairly tall, and have found that it is the way to go

I bought this item for work so folks in my area can scoot around campus to make meetings or deliver stuff. Now that it's together I'm pleased, it rides well and the brakes are good quality. However, getting to that stage took more time that I expected. The box was pretty beat up, and there is little padding inside to protect the bike. The front reflector was in pieces. The fenders are pretty warped, but do fit. The main problem was that the back fork was too narrow. Either they made it too tight when they manufactured it or it took a serious bump. Regardless, I ended up filing the inside of the fork on both sides, and I had to manhandle the fork apart to get the back wheel to set in place, with the help of a hammer. There was something wrong with the valve on the back tire. The front tire filled fine with my small compressor at home, but the head couldn't properly depress the pin on the valve on the back tire. Luckily my son left his upright hand pump at home so I used it, but I had to really force the air into the back tire to get it up to pressure. I am tall (6'4") and the handle bar height is not adjustable, making for a slightly uncomfortable ride for me. I also noticed that the website listed for the manufacturer was defunct. But for the price it was a good deal. I am now looking at the Kickbike Sport Classic to buy for personal use. It is a blast to use one of these, it's both fun and a good workout.

What: Yellow Mogo kick Scooter. Apparently there are different versions, depending on the year of manufacture you have.Shipping: I am sure when the shipped from the distributor, the box is in good shape, but since most of the inside of any bicycle boxes are fairly hollow, the outside box will get some damage when "man-handled" by the uncaring delivery service. I would not blame the distributor on this one but the manufacturer for not adding some extra reinforcement in the areas that will either get crushed or damaged during normal shipping transit. Mine came with one of the nylon straps missing and the bottom outer flap loose on one side. Fortunately, I had minimal damage to the scooter itself. The rear fender was slightly twisted, but nothing that could not be bent back into shape. There were two spots where the paint was chipped off the frame, but again, nothing to worry too much. Assembly: I removed the instruction manual that was taped to the outside of the box with clear a document sleeve. It was in english and not your typical "engrish" that we get with so many products made in Asia. The assembly was straight forward as many other owners may have noted. Basically it goes like this: turn the front fork 180 degrees so it faces forward, mount the handle bars, attach the front fender (if desired), attach the front wheel and bolt the front fender supports (if the fender was attached). Attach the rear fender, mount up the rear wheel and attach the brake cables to the handles. Inflate the tires and check the brake to wheel alignment. If you don't have to fiddle with the brakes you are ready to ride! It took me 45 minutes to assembly mine because I had to twist the front and rear fenders a bit to line up correctly and play with the adjustment on the rear brakes because they were dragging on the right side. Some advice, double check all the other screws and bolts just in case before taking it out on its maiden voyage. Ride: I used to own a red Flyer kick scooter when I was in elementary school. So perhaps this is my excuse to relive those days. My old kick scooter had 8 inch metal wheels with solid rubber tires, a rear friction brake pedal and rode ok for what I used it for. Being 8 years old has its advantages for missing the fine details on the aspects of riding dynamics. But interesting enough, memories of having to the kick all the way from home to grandma's house surfaced once I got on the Mogo. Deja Vu settled in and it was like the first time I rode the red Flyer in the late '60s. But what was a bonus was how relatively plush the ride was on the Mogo. It handled the small bumps and cracks on the pavement in a calm, collective manner. No drama, no wagging of its head or tail. Having both a front and rear brake felt a bit of an overkill, but I am sure once I can get some speed or going downhill it will come in handy. Pros: Light weight, full sized for an adult. However, if you are over 6 feet tall, you may want to consider a different handlebar with some rise to it. The foot platform (at least on mine) was textured to provide a solid gripping surface. I wear a size 9 shoe and was able to fit both feet on the board while coasting. However, it is designed to have your resting foot centered on the platform. Cardio exercise and plenty of it. If you are looking for a reason or excuse to exercise you will get plenty on this or any kick scooter for that matter. So be prepared to work your way up to some distance. Cons: Difficult to traverse uphills, since there is only one method of momentum, depending on your cardio endurance, it may end up being easier to walk the Mogo up a hill if it is steep. This will be the reason most bicylist will shake their heads in disagreement for your choice of transportation. "What is the point of it if you have to walk it up a hill" (think of it more as large skateboard with brakes and a handle bar or a Razor kick scooter and you won't feel so bad) Remember, the Mogo isn't trying to pretend to be a bicycle. Cadio exercise and plenty of it. If you were looking for non gas or electric powered vehicle that will get you from point A to B with minimal much effort, get a bicycle. This kick scooter requires a bit of involvement to get it going and when the elevation changes upward, it requires even more effort on your part to keep it going. Learning curve to use both legs when riding to get a proper work out and build muscle symmetry. No kickstand, at least on my model. I will be looking to see if I can mount up a clamp on one. No way to lock the frame to a bike stand or pole. Proprietary rear tire/hub/tube size - difficult to find except from Mogo themselves. My opinion: If you want something different, then get this kick scooter. If you want to get across town and especially if there are some hills, then this may not be the best choice unless working out is part of your reason to getting one. It handles well and the ride is fairly plush compared to a bike since you are not sitting none of the road shock transmits up your spine. However the flip side of this is you are standing and most of your body weight is on the resting leg. So there isn't really a way to relax and just coast. Learning to use my non-dominent leg has been a bit challenging but doable. Besides gives me a reason to learn how to use my "weaker" leg. Unusual design, be prepared for some stares and strange looks when riding. It's not really all that weird if you had a kick scooter back when you were a kid, but strange for most bicylist today because they either never owned a kick scooter or not old enough to remember them. So you will either be greeted with some naysayers or some nostalgic memories for others. Just remember, you are riding it for yourself and not the approval of others.

$500 quality? No. But unbelievable value for the price paid! I do my own bicycle adjustments so the assembly/adjustments were no sweat (mostly. See "Cons" below). If you've never adjusted a set of V-brakes you might become frustrated like some of the reviewers. Local bike shop can handle that in 3 minutes (or a neighbor who rides).Pros: Value, Value. Gorgeous. Fun. Cross trainer. Cons: Chinese quality (beautiful paint job but some details not up to par. The rear drop-outs on mine were manufactured slightly twisted, so I had to force the rear axle into place, scratching the beautiful paint job). Packaging is inadequate to prevent shipping damage -- luckily mine only had 1 paint scrape about the size of a pencil eraser. Odd REAR size tire -- hope I don't tear one up! I love my Mogo. Use it 3 or 4 times a week to compliment my walking/biking exercise program. Just buy one -- many folks will enjoy using it.

i absolutely love my MOGO ! for now i am just riding it down to the mailbox and back but am looking forward to some warm weather to put some real miles on it. when it was delivered to my front porch my heart sank, the packaging was so ripped up and torn that all i could think was "this is a joke right" ?!? i just hoped that there was a return label to send it right back to them... but, alas, as i finished tearing off what was left of the cardboard, i was amazed to find that everything was surprisingly intact. i got out the wrenches and assembled the scooter and found that the only damage was a small scrape on the underside of the frame, barely enough to chip the paint. i aired up the tires and tweeked and adjusted and with very little time and effort had it roadworthy.i was so eager to take it for a spin that i wheeled it outside and set out on the maiden voyage in an oregon snowstorm... i have taken a few short trips on it since then, enough to get a good feel for it, and i anxiously await some good weather to get some warm air under my wings ! in conclusion, this is a fantastic scooter at a great price, and i would definately recommend it to a friend...

Got this as a gift.Box had a few big holes in it and did not come with any instructions or tools. No details on tools needed to complete assembly (you need a 10 mm and 8 mm hex wrench, and a 14 mm and 8(?)mm wrench). Customer / web support is difficult to find to the point of being non-existent. This thing is fun, but the assembly experience leaves MUCH to be desired. I would recommend they have a better web-presence/ customer support or provide instructions and tools to complete assembly. Looking forward to riding this scooter when the weather gets better.

Love my Mogo! It is a great workout, which is what I bought it for. It was pretty easy to assemble. A little problem with getting the tires to fill up firm, but it is working great! It is also a lot of fun to ride:)

Arrived with box torn up, missing headlight reflector from it's now broken mounting, rear tire won't inflate, is an unusual size so it won't be easy to get a new one. Frame was badly bent in shipment, had to be bent to go together. It's fun to use while the tire stays inflated, but I can't recommend anyone else buy from this company when it's packaging is so poor. |
