5 stars go out to this latest offering from the Moistboyz who, [...] These guys have a combined musical legacy that spans decades and in general they've always been more out on the edge than their contemporaries at a given time.

IV seems like a departure for them lyrically and musically and they've somehow carved a fresh sound out of musical elements lifted from rock's nastiest moments. As expected there are maniacally funny moments where they shovel over the stinky piles of moldy American trash they always have (Roy, Everybody's fucked her). However, this time there's some dead-serious material -"I dont give a fuck where the eagle flies" and "The year of the maggot"- (both of which absolutely NAIL the current political/social situation in the USA with brutal honesty and clear vision) that takes the music to a level not previously reached.

It is rare these days to hear anyone speak truthfully about where we are as a society, let alone scream it at the top of their lungs in front of a band, but the Moistboyz do so and have not only the balls, but the musical/lyrical intelligence and sincere emotion necessary to make it ring true.

Aside from the above the record never lets down the energy and sonically is their best to date. Hope this doesn't sound cliche, but they seem to have really found their sound as a band and I look forward to seeing them live as they tear through this material. Cheers gentlemen, I look forward to many years of great music from all of you.

the Moistboyz got alot of attention back in the day because Mickie Moist (aka Dean Ween) was also the guitarist in Ween. but the M.B.'s are an entirely seperate entity of their own. the must isn't complicated, its not artistic, its not thinking man's music. its just basic, pissed off, rough, don't give a f*ck rock & roll. period. if you like old Black Flag, The Stooges, and Verbal Abuse, you might dig this CD.

Plain and simple...this album rocks! Best Moistboyz album yet. Never heard of Moistboyz...buy this album, you'll be amazed. Moistboyz fan...then you MUST have this album. Picks up right where III left off.

I haven't stoped listening to this album since I got it in October. Few CDs stay in my player this long, but I've yet to tire of this awesome rock fest. It's too bad these guys don't get noticed more, because they deserve it!!!

Mr. Heller, if you hate George W. Bush so much, why even mention his name? Mentioning Bush will only date you in a few years. I realize that freedom of speech exists, but my freedom of speech allows me to be bothered by this political lameness on the part of singer/roofer Guy Heller. Other than the first two robotic anti-war songs that mention such things as 'Homeland Security', 'Mr Bush', and 'the Burning Bush' this is a pretty cool hard rock heavy metal album. There are some very good riffs, and of course very awesome solos, and a few of the songs are soulful and groovy, even though the lyrics, sung by Mickey Moist (Guy Heller) are always screamed at us like a wild banshee mawing at the gates of hell. Of course the master of this CD is Dean Ween, who plays Mickey Moist here (his real name is Mickey... he has a long Italian last name that I cannot remember how to spell so I won't even try). Dean (I'll call him Dean since mostly WEEN fans are buying this) plays riffs that seem simple, but have many progressions to them. When you see MB live, you'll witness just how much is put into each tune. And the solos are far from simple of course. I don't recall the names of the 12 tracks, but my favorites are 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Track 4 is also good. Track 12 sounds like something ALICE IN PEARL GARDEN PILOTS would do, but is even better because Dean Ween really is one of the best modern guitarists around, and his solos rule over most modern guitar-slingers. My least favorite track is ROY, that sounds like the riff was thought up as Dean was sleepwalking, with lyrics that would probably even make Larry Flynt cringe, but overall this album is pretty darn good, and politics aside -- which sound funny coming from a singer who seems as if he wouldn't care about his own house burning down if he drank enough ale and was able to howl at the moon all night -- this is one of the best MOISTBOYZ ventures... and is definitly their cleanest recording to date, as in, the quality of the thing far exceeds their other three albums (especially their debut that sounds as if it were recorded with a 4-track... which, by the way, does give it a classic appeal like the early WEEN albums). Anyhow, if you like MOISTBOYZ, you'll like this (and I am probably the one person who has problems with the first two tracks) (Heller often mentions the White House and how bad America is in past MB albums but never names names till now), and if you don't know of the MOISTBOYZ... then why are you reading this?
