Best self-published album ever, January 16, 2011
This review is from: Mojave Moon (Audio CD)
I stumbled upon this cd at a listening station at the gift shop in the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA. The style is somewhere between southwestern flamenco (similar to Ottmar Liebert, but much better), acoustic guitar jazz (similar to Acoustic Alchemy, but again better), and new age-ish (like Mike Oldfield, and on par with his best). I bought it on an impulse, and to this day it is still one of my all time favorite albums. It's really tragic that someone like Arnold Mitchem, who A). composes better music than most commercially successful acts, and B). plays the guitar beautifully, has gone almost completely undiscovered. The sixth track "The River" is truly a standout. If you get a chance to get a copy of this, do so. And Mr. Mitchem, if you read this, please make more music like this!
