This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Mold Warriors contains advanced, sophisticated, effective, state of the art testing and treatment protocols for some of the most perplexing diseases and disorders, confronting medical practices. These protocols treat actual causes of disabling diseases, including Lymes, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Migraine, Irritible Bowel Syndrome, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Parkinson's Disease and possibly even Multiple Sclerosis by altering gene expression, cytokine, leukotriene and hormonal imbalance, in addition to removing potentially deadly neurotoxins, from the body. Mold Warriors contains detailed explanations of sophisticated immunological and hormonal tests, which many physicians have never even heard of. The appendix contains detailed information concerning where to obtain the various tests, diagnostic and procedure codes, etc., which practitioners will find very helpful.
The VEGF test described in this book, frequently reveals why chronic fatigue patients remain fatigued, with impaired concentration, after hypothyroidism iss corrected. Lupus patients tested with the Visual Contrast Sensitivity Test usually fail. The inexpensive Visual Contrast Sensitivity Test is so sensitive, it detected visual field narrowing, in a migraine patientsbefore her aura occurred. Many of the advanced protocols, in this book, will eventually become accepted standard of care. Chronic sinusitis and migraine headaches can sometimes be successfully treated with the cholestyramine protocol described in this book. Lupus and Lyme patients are also improving with these treatment protocols. A weakness of this book is a failure to discuss herbal treatments, which can decrease MMP 9, without dangerous side effects of diabetes medications. Numerous, fascinating case histories and accounts of epidemiological investigations make Mold Warriors more readable and comprehensible. Mold Warriors contains many inspiring stories of noble struggles against suffering and injustice. These physicians, Shoemaker and Schaller, are brilliant, compassionate, dedicated, courageous practitioners and researchers. Like most medical and scientific pioneers, they have encountered resistance, while they advance scientific progress. Urine mycotoxin testing is revealing Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Panic Disorder,Parkinson's and Alcohol patients, who actually were suffering from mold neurotoxicity , which was revealed, using protocols described in this book. A 13 year old female patient with knee pain so severe, another physician recommended knee braces was sent to Dr. Schaller. Dr. Schaller diagnosed Babesia and treated it so effectively, she was jumping on the trampoline, 2 weeks later, with her sister. Unfortunately, this patient relapsed about a year later and intravenous vitamin C was required to treat her relapse, which may have been caused by West Nile Virus. The book index numbers are incorrect, but the book arrives with an insert which explains how many page numbers need to be added to correct the index. Despite erroneous index page numbering, this book deserves 5 stars. A weakness of this book, is the failure to discuss intravenous Vitamin C megadose, which may be the most effective treatment, for Lyme Disease. Another weakness is failure to discuss any herbal antiinflammatories. Steven Sponaugle

Mold - What you never suspected was making you sick.,
By Joseph Colasante "Joseph" (Tampa, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Dr. Shoemaker and Dr. Schaller have created a masterpiece for helping people with mystery illnesses. See mold in your home, school or at work. It is making you or others ill. Anyone that doubts this scientific data is stuck in the 1980's. The book uses interesting stories from teachers to judges. Mold Warriors weaves in new scientific evidence, currently available labs and proven testing. It is easily read and understood by the general audience. The CDC and NIH will take ten years for their consensus panels to get around to actually treating the thousands of folks that form the basis for this book.
As someone who has suffered from "mold" allergies and been made sick by moldy builgings all of my life, with many family members made sick by their schools and work buildings, this book offers incredible insight solutions and hope to all of us. You can get better and feel better. This book is truly innovative and gets to the root of what is making us sick and will offer you and your doctor options for how to get well.

a must-read for anyone with FMS, CFS, MCS, Lyme, etc!!,
By luna (New York City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Shoemaker is a genius and I am so thankful someone referred this book to me. He is exactly what a doctor should be: intelligent and humble, truly dedicated to serving his patients, constantly stretching himself to uncover hidden truths, willing to stand up to government, lawyers, insurance companies and fight the system for justice. Read the book and open your mind. His theory about biotoxin illness makes so much sense and he explains it in layman's terms. Each chapter reveals a different side of this illness and the fight to get it recognized in courts across America. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Consumer Health Collections should have this title,
By
This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Mold Warriors is an extraordianary acheivement by Dr. Ritchie C. Shoemaker, MD, along with James Schaller, MD & Patti Schmidt. It is rich with primary information involving patient's diagnosis and treatments. This book gives hope to suffering patients and should be in all Consumer Health Collections in public and health sciences libraries. If the book reaches those shelves it will be available not only to patients but also to interns, residents, and those cutting edge physicians who use libraries to keep a step above the rest. I wish all medical librarians could receive a copy of this book as they are the link to these special physicians across the country and the world.

Mold Warriors,

This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Everyone who feels that they have been harmed by mold overexposure should read "Mold Warriors". Dr. Shoemaker has done an excellent job of making his research and practice understandable by the lay reader, and I feel that the technical basis for this work resonates with my experiences as an affected person.

Must read for anyone with unexplained chronic illness,
By Pierre Belperron (Ipswich, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
After exhausting the hallowed halls of medecine in Boston, having been seen by over 30 physicians (not to mention a host of alternative practitioners) it was not until we read Dr. Shoemaker's Mold Warriors that we had answers about illness that had plagued our family for years. I didn't have to get far--on page two of the introduction he cites a list of symptoms, most of which physicians had discounted or said could not be related. Yet there they all where. That is when I knew that we had to not only read his book, but see Dr. Shoemaker.
The book is no work of literary art. Dr. Shoemaker alternates between some very difficult scientific explanations, and anecdotes which he uses to illustrate those principles. The anecdotes are written in a very conversational style, perhaps to make them seem accessible, especially to those (like me) who had some trouble understanding all the detail of his science. Once you get beyond the writing style, though, this book is all genius. When armed with the knowledge in this book, don't expect much support for the theories espoused therein from your local MD. We have encountered a variety of reacions at area hospitals, from dismissive indifference to outright hostility over the concepts presented in Mold Warriors. Funny thing, though, is that those physicians never helped my family at all to recover. Dr. Shoemaker did.

Thank you Dr. Shoemaker!!!,
By Tami Tippit (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
I am the "Tami", along with my fiancé Jim Frasca mentioned in Chapter 4 of Dr. Shoemaker's book Mold Warriors. Over the last 10 years, I have seen over a hundred so called "specialist" and spent thousands of dollars to come up; undiagnosed, broke and disappointed at the medical community in general.
It wasn't until my fiancé suggested I see Dr. Shoemaker that I regained faith in medical doctors. Not only did Dr. Shoemaker listen, I now have a diagnosis to my illness; something I had given up on ever achieving. In one word, Dr. Shoemaker is a genius. He listens to his patients, never stops learning and has restored my faith in doctors...well, one doctor anyway. He is a credit to the medical community and I highly recommend him to anyone with a biotoxion related illness. My thanks to Dr. Shoemaker and his book Mold Warriors. I believe it will change medical science as we know it. -Tami Tippit

Mold Warriors,

This review is from: Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Working in a building that is suspect to have mold indoors I was referenced this book by a doctor. The information is this book is very scary but truthful. Dr. Shumaker has compiled his years of experience, knowledge and resources in a well written book. I highly recommend Mold Warriors to anyone who wants more knowledge about mold and what "it" can do to us!
