I think it's wonderful that someone took the time and effort to write a book about the mysterious green, glassy mineral known as moldavite. Claimed by many to be the result of a meteorite impact that occurred 15 million years ago, moldavite is intriguing by itself. Add to this the fact that the stone is said to possess powerful metaphysical properties boasting thousands of advocates world-wide, and you've got the makings of a best-seller (at least in the "New Age" catagory).

This book could have been a killer with the potential to break out of the tiny "New Age" market and challenge the typical American reader to rethink their entire existance and purpose. Hey, it's happened before - remember "Dyanetics"? One of the reasons I feel so strongly about this is I personally own a piece of the gemstone known as moldavite and take it from me - it is NOT your typical rock...

The book's major failure is in it's presentation. It's so saturated with "bliss" and new age sci-fi fantasy that it only has credibility with the existing holistic crowd. The book should have been more objective. The only opinions we get are from people that are already deeply immersed in some form of metaphysical practice. No credible scientists, physicists, geologists. Nope, it's all light and love and spaceships...

Do I recommend this book? Absolutely. As far as I know it is the only book of it's kind on this bizzare subject. So if ancient, green, glassy rocks from outer space that possess the power to "change your life" makes you curious, go for it.

NOTE: Word is out that the same authors are doing a follow up book. Maybe in this one they'll present their story in a manner that the rest of us can relate to and take seriously. Hope so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tektites in History and Myth, March 30, 2004

This review is from: Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transformation (Paperback)
This book is an interesting curiosity. While much of the book is devoted to the spiritual and holistic properties many find in the green tektite known as Moldavite, there is some very interesting material buried deep in the pages here which I feel are the true value of this book.

The authors give a background in the story of the ancient green gemstone and their profound experiences with it. But the really interesting material starts to crop up in the chapters dealing with Moldavite's mysterious connection with ancient myth and legend, particularly its relationship to the Grail Legend. The authors briefly mention the works of Nicholas Roerich and Baron Richard de Touch-Skadding, both of whom speculated on the mythic origins of tektites in general, and Moldavite in particular. The authors explore the strange connections Moldavite has to the myths of the Holy Grail, the Stone of Shambhala, as well as the Emerald Tablet and Philosophers Stone of alchemistic lore. In fact, there are intruiging elements in several legends which point to an extraterrestrial origin to these mythical objects which sounds remarkably like Moldavite. Emma Jung, wife of the famous psychoanalyst Carl Jung, wrote at length on the Grail Legend and she also hinted at a possible meteoric origin for the elusive object which, she notes, is described in Eschenbach's famous work "Parzifal" as being a green stone which fell from Heaven. The book also highlights various other tektite myths and legends from across the globe and finds that humans have long been fascinated by these mystical objects since the dawn of prehistory. This all makes for fascinating reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book only deals with the tektite form of moldavite, July 8, 2002
This review is from: Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transformation (Paperback)
This book only talks of the Tektite form of moldavite. It does not mention the African Moldavite (a green translucent stone mined near Kilamanjaro) at all.

Much of the information here about moldavite is correct, and matches my experience with Tektite moldavite. Many people are under the impression that tektite Moldavite is the most powerful stone on Earth. From my experience with 60+ different kinds of rocks in my collection; Moldavite is the second most powerful stone on earth. In April; I saw two Rainbow Boji stones that were far more powerful than any of the peices of moldavite in my collection.

I did not care for the chapter of Channeling readings about moldavite. I DID find chapter 10 "The Moldavite Letters" very interesting because I too have noticed changes in myself in the last two months of carrying a peice of moldavite in my pocket; Two Bears.

Wah doh Ogedoda (We give thanks Great Spirit)

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great story full of helpful information, October 5, 2006
This review is from: Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transformation (Paperback)
This book not only discusses the tales of Moldavite, an amazing stone, but also the birth of one of the largest distributors/vendors/publishers in the crystal community today: Heaven and Earth Publishing, LLC. This book is a must-read for all interested in Moldavite, as well as other crystal fans. It combines historical research, mythology (in reference to the stone of the Holy Grail), scientific research and chemical analysis, personal stories, channeled messages, uses, a collection of the experiences of others, and numerous other benefits. This book debunks a lot of myths about tektite formation, and it certainly helps explain the popularity of the stone in our New Age movements.

4.0 out of 5 stars informative, June 16, 2008
This review is from: Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transformation (Paperback)
Being that it's the only book on Moldavite available, it's hard to give it a fair review.

I'd say that the most valuable information I found in this book was the chapter on "using Moldavite with other stones"... It's really insightful but, unfortunately, it only covers about 15 or 20 other gemstones so it left me wanting more.

still a pretty good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Moldavite Healers, October 9, 2010
This review is from: Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transformation (Paperback)
If you are interested in moldavite's powerful ability to energetically heal, this is the book for you. There is very detailed, well written information on the history and uses of moldavite by spiritual healers and individuals who have discovered the stone for themselves. There are detailed and practical suggestions as to how laypersons might use the stone to spiritually evolve.

On the other hand, if you think the concept of "spiritual-" or "energetic-healing" is a bunch of wacko New Age b.s., and you're only interested in moldavite's geology and stratigraphy, etc., then I suggest you go to your local university research library's geology department instead. The point is, this book isn't really for the left-brain, five-sensory, "I'll only believe it when I see it" types.

This book gives a concise reference source for all those who have discovered moldavite for themselves and would like to know more about its spiritual properties.

This book endeavors to educate about the purpose of Moldavite on Earth, according to the authors, Robert Simmons and Kathy Warner. Simmons has researched in detail regarding the speculative theories of how this stone got here on Earth, and its potential purpose for humankind's transition to our next purpose. Through personal experience and via the letters of others' experiences with Moldavite, the reader can surely recognize that there is something different about this lovely green meteorite, and it IS worth investigating. Simmons is the author of the book Earthfire, and The Book of Stones. Earthfire: A Tale of Transformation The Book of Stones: Who They Are & What They Teach

3.0 out of 5 stars Could sure be a better book, February 24, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transformation (Paperback)
The book is OK but a little less of the new age stuff with more legends, more facts would have been nice. I realize the book was published around the time that the authors and their company starting selling moldavite and this was one of the "tools" used in their marketing. Still wish it is done with a little less hype.

Although informative about the tektite known as Moldavite, the author seemed more concerned with readers buying from his shop than dispensing usable information.
