Casting miniatures can be confusing. There are so many different types of rubbers, plastics, epoxies and what not. This kit takes all the worry out of that. You get the ingredients needed to make the rubber molds and you get the ingredients needed to cast the actual miniature parts.
It also comes with mold release and mold sealant which are optional but good to have.
Comes with a quick overview sheet and detailed instructions and a bonus DVD that you can watch.

I am very happy with this kit. It takes all the guesswork out of making molds and casting miniatures.
I have used it to cast some really small miniatures and it holds extremely fine details.

I was happily suprised to find that the other reviews on this product were completely correct: this starter kit is awesome. Comparing the costs of the kit to buying the pieces seperately (the casting plastic, and the mold making compunds), it's actually cheaper to get this kit. And to boot, you get mold release! Everything you need in one box, with paper instructions and a dvd on how it's done. This was my first time making molds and casting with plastic, and I had no issues whatsoever with either! Fast, super easy, and affordable. You really cant ask for more. The next time I need something molded and replicated, I will be ordering again. The finished plastic carves and sands beautifully, and the kit gives you plenty of mold making material and casting compounds to do a few small projects, or a good medium to large sized project. I made two, two-sided molds for figurines that were aprox. 3-4" high and around 1.5" thick in the thickest parts. The casting compounds made approx. 20-30 castings of the figurines from the mold, and was so detailed, you could even see fingerprints from the original model (it was a scuply clay figurine I made and baked that happened to have a finger print or two).
Fyi.. when using this kit, buy some cheapy plastic cups and some popsicle sticks if you're making lots of little figurines, maybe a paint bucket and painters mixing stick for larger castings. Don't use anything you wouldn't want to throw away.

Smooth-On makes a wide range of moldmaking and casting products, and this kit contains a good example of thier silicone and resin. The kit also includes detailed instructions.

Moldmaking and casting can be fun and rewarding hobbies, but if done without proper materials and instructions it can also be disapointing and expensive. This kit is a good and fairly safe way to try this without buying a lot of equipment you might not need.

This is easily the best, and easiest to use starter kit. It provides realistic working times, and produces excellent results. Highly recommended!

I used this to make some casts of headphone parts that had fallen apart on some rather expensive headphones. The headphone company wouldn't send replacement parts to fix them, so I glued the pieces back together and make a mold from them. After casting the new plastic parts, I can use the headphones again. The molding was easy to do, and the finished product was perfect, even the very fine details of the parts. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to cast small objects (small only because you would need more of the resins than is in the kit to make something big).

This product is easy and fun to use, I just couldn't wait to use it. I watch and read the info provided. I had also used the videos on YouTube. My first casting was tricky, but my second worked great. The resin cured in 20 min and it was just like the mold.

This kit worked great for me. I bought this to learn how to create molds and then use them to cast items. For this it worked perfectly. I poured the mold one night and the next morning cast my first part. I'm planning to try a two part mold next. I am definitely hooked.

One important thing: when you are pouring parts A and B for the plastic, hold the cup up to the spout. This is a lot thinner than the rubber parts and if you do not do that then some of it will end up on your work surface or the floor.

Something I learned from watching videos from other manufacturers: After you have mixed the rubber, pour it into another container and mix it some more. I am sure you will see streaks of part A or B on the side of the original mixing container.

I have already recommended this product to other people.

My husband and I spend lots of time constructing things using this mold kit. He makes his Warhammer men and I make stepping stones and all kinds of fun stuff. We used to use a far more primitive and tough method. This makes it easy and enjoyable to do our arts and crafts! LOVE IT!
