Product Description

Who would be so cruel as to kidnap an entire family of moles? Jinbe, the evil farmer that's who. As Muddy, the lone family member to escape Jinbe's clutches, you must rescue your family. Each level presents a maze of challenges and you'll have to make it all the way to the end in order to advance to the next round. Being a mole, you can (of course) dig your way around obstacles, and feel free to lean on old Grandpa Hint if any of the game's staggering puzzles prove too steep to conquer on your own. Other than Grandpa, though, the only tools you'll have at your disposal are your reflexes and wits, so get digging your family needs you! You can play alone or against a friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Obscure Awesomeness, December 27, 2010

This review is from: Mole Mania (Video Game)
I saw this game sitting in a used book store and I didn't really know anything about it but it was cheep so I thought I would try it out and it was a good choice.
The plot is the you must save your wife and family from a evil farmer, so its kind of simple. The fun comes from the puzzle aspect. You have to figure out your way past many levels using the under and over ground terrain. There are a few other types of puzzle as well.
A good game that has fallen between the cracks.

Also for fans of Shigeru Miyamoto, this game would make a nice addition.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Games You've Never Played, March 24, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mole Mania (Video Game)
- Dig It -

The hero, Muddy Mole, has been the victim of a mole-napping and it's up to him to rescue his wife and seven kids. As if that weren't strange enough, the eccentric farmer behind it has placed an elaborate maze of puzzles between Muddy and family.

- The Game Play -

Between you and victory lies an increasingly mind-melting assortment of obstacles and enemies. A ball, picked up on each screen, is your key to the exit. Exits can only be opened with a smack from this ball, and figuring out how to maneuver it there will take some thought.

Each level is composed of multiple puzzle screens and concluded with a short boss fight. Difficulty ramps smoothly and, occasional obtrusive enemy aside, things don't get too frustrating. The reflex-intensive bonus games are quite trying, however, but completely optional.

The game auto-saves after each cleared room and you'll have infinite continues, so it's perfect for short bursts or long sessions (if you dare). You aren't penalized for getting "game over/continue" screens, so don't be afraid to keep trying. You can do it!

- Conclusion -

With legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto at the helm, it's no surprise this game delivers the goods! What's amazing is that it got such little recognition. If you'd like a game that's fun *and* gets you thinking, get this one before everyone finds out how great it is!
