Book Description

2 and upThe Mole Sisters

The irresistible and irrepressible Mole Sisters!

The Mole Sisters set out to do nothing at all. But when a busy bee buzzes by, they follow him and end up in a lovely meadow of flowers. The Mole Sisters begin smelling and their noses become covered in pollen. With a couple of big sneezes, they unwittingly help the busy bees with their work -- making everyone's day more enjoyable.

With unfaltering optimism, the Mole Sisters make the most out of each day. They are always ready to laugh and find every opportunity for fun! The sisters continue to make molehills out of all the mountains that stand in their way.

Roslyn Schwartz's colored-pencil artwork is bright and lush, and she conveys the Mole Sisters' love for life with minimum text that is easy to follow for any toddler or preschooler.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-In these two series installments, the siblings go about their day with zest whether it be venturing out into a wheat field or simply doing nothing. In Busy Bees they relax but observe that the bees are hard at work; in Wavy Wheat the plot revolves around the moles' adventure in a wheat field. Action phrases provide ample opportunities for child participation. For example, the sisters "Swish to the right-swish to the left-one, two, three and-'DOWN!'" Always upbeat and jolly, the characters are gentle companions. The small format is perfect for little hands but less practical for storytimes. Images are rendered in muted earth tones using colored pencils in a style reminiscent of pointillism. They have an almost dreamy quality. Independence, optimism, intelligence, and love of adventure are good qualities for children and these siblings are fine examples.

Review

[A] good book for preschoolers to share while sitting quietly with on their parent's lap. Recommended. (Kathleen Kirk Canadian Materials )

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mole Sisters, January 18, 2007
This review is from: The Mole Sisters and the Busy Bees (Paperback)
These are the most enchanting little books. I found one on a trip a few years ago and brought it home to my then 4 year old grandson. Since then we have bought every book, plus the collected stories edition. They are also good for little beginning readers.
