Best Book on Cell Biology at the Molecular Level!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Molecular Cell Biology (Hardcover)
An excellent textbook with a very clear writing style. Includes excellent diagrams and photographs to illustrate the text. The best of the lot. Personally, I would put this book well ahead of the similar book by Bruce Alberts et al., for its clarity and bredth of coverage.

Comprehensive introduction,

This review is from: Molecular Cell Biology (Hardcover)
I can only agree with the other reviewers. The explanations are detailed enough to get an idea of the amazing processes that occur at the molecular level. All necessary concepts are covered in the text; a biological background is not required. The growing importance of biotechnology in modern society makes this book required reading for anybody who wants to form a well informed opinion on the power and promises of this modern science.

It is clearly recomended for students of Medicine, Biochemistry, Biology, Naturology, etc. etc.

I am an attorney but have a science background. I've recently decided to learn biotechnology as a personal interest. This book is well written and illustrated. It really covers the material without dumbing down and without loosing the reader as many books do. I found I could successgfully teach myself with this volume.

Comprehensive but easy to follow,
By Howard Schneider (Thornhill, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Molecular Cell Biology (Hardcover)
This thousand page-plus work provides a comprehensive, but easy to follow review of molecular cell biology. Illustrations are excellent. The book starts with the basics of molecular biology - proteins, nucleic acids, genetic code, etc. It then considers nuclear functions in detail -replication, transcription and gene regulation in development. The book then considers cytoplasmic functions in detail - cell membranes, cell energy production and utilization, microfilaments, microtubules, multicellularity and control of the eukaryotic cell cycle.

It's full of information.. but not boring at all.,

This review is from: Molecular Cell Biology (Hardcover)
I'm a biology student and have learned something about cell biology before reading this book. However, I found this book very interesting and informative. Some examples seem to be quite complex. However, the authors presents those complexity in the way that easy to follow and not too oversimplifying.
