An excellent tool in preparaton for Molecular Pathology Registry Exam.
Globally covers all areas of Molecular Pathology taught in formal university classrooms courses. Information is simply explained, concepts are easy to grasp and has illustrations, tables, charts, and diagrams that reaches and facilitates a better level of understanding. Don't sit for registry exam without reviewing this text. "Great Stuff". Respectively, Frank Escontrias

For a first textbook written for CLS this is very decent but not perfect - looking forward to see the second edition with corrected figures, specifically regarding the position of PCR primers. Interestingly, the instructor's powerpoints have pictures that do not correspond to the same figures in the Text.

Perfect for reviewing to sit for registry exam. The initial chapters are great intro for adding molecular to any general scientific knowledge base. I would ask any one giving this book a less than stellar review to find a better one.

Pretty decent book, goes over most concepts of molecular diagnostics, PCR, FISH, RT-PCR, molecular beacons, FRET, etc. Fairly easy to understand. Could do a better job in some places. Used in a Molecular Diagnostics - Human Genetics course in CLS/MT Program.

I have noticed that the 2nd edition will be released on early December 2011 so we can wait a bit and get the new version not the out dated 1st edition.

I bought this book for a Molecular Diagnostics course for an MT/CLS progam. Although I've had some previous education in DNA, etc. . . I was new to most of the concepts in the book. I found it easy to read and very understandable. My only real complaint is that THERE'S NO GLOSSARY in this book. To me, that's a major oversight.

This is not for those of us who are new to the topic. Too much information, not enough explanation. If you are required to purchase it for a course get something else to supplement the first three chapters on DNA and RNA.

One of the worst-written books ever inflicted on me.,

The fact that trees were killed for this is a crying shame. The cheesy two-color illustrations do not make up for the writing style, which manages at once to plod and confuse.
