This review is from: Molecules and Medicine (Paperback)
This is a book for anyone with a little background in chemistry to a lot who is interested in how submicroscopic entities, molecules, are biologically active and are being used as medicine. The first chapter on chemical bonding and molecular structural formulas gives a good introduction or review for students. The rest of the book focuses on the molecules that constitute modern pharmaceuticals, their structure and activity. The book is organized to make it easy to find medicinal molecules based on there uses. The writing is concise and informative, and the illustrations are excellent. I recommend this book to students interested in medical fields and anyone interested in the molecular aspect of popular medicines. A truly excellent book!

A Chemists View,

This review is from: Molecules and Medicine (Paperback)
This is an excellent production. Well writen and illustrated. My only criticism is that the one page allotted to most of the molecules in the book is a little skimpy - at least for a chemist. Otherwise I think it is an excellent introduction for those with some chemistry background and certainly for undergraduate chemistry majors or even the better premeds.

Awesome!,

This review is from: Molecules and Medicine (Paperback)
This is really a very interesting book that touches on some important aspects of drugs while covering the real breakthroughs in this field. The individual summaries on each of the drugs are very helpful, though brief and thus incomplete. However, you really do need a background in organic chemistry and biology to get the most out of it-- the book is oddly accessible and out of read at the same time.

With the level of interest in pharmaceuticals never being higher, this timely contribution is a home run. This is a must for organic and medicinal chemists and for anyone who wants obtain accurate information on important drugs.

Molecules and Medicine,
This review is from: Molecules and Medicine (Paperback)
This book did not meet my expectations. I was hoping to find interesting stories about the development of these medicines and why they were developed for their diseases, but did not find this in this book.
