This planner is nicely made, but I don't care for the calendar layout. The week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday, rather that beginning on Sunday like most calendars. The calendar comes shrink wrapped in plastic, so you can't really see the layout until you have opened it. The printing is faint and kinda small. There is a section for notes on each monthly page, but it runs vertically along the right side, rather that horizontally along the bottom, which makes it hard to jot down more that a one or two word sentence. There are a couple of line note pages between each monthly grid, but there is no planner style format to them, just lines. The back of the calendar has about twenty or thirty more pages of lined note paper and there is a reference section of weights and measures, phases of the moon, that sort of stuff, which is nice but adds alot of bulk.

Everything You'll Need in a Small Monthly Planner,

I looked at many different options when considering a monthly planner that would reasonably fit in my purse. This has everything for such an amazingly low price. And they thought of everything - a note page on every page, a lined calendar without times, a tiny pocket at the back, an attached page marker, a band to keep it shut, and every little guide in the front you can think of (e.g., a tiny ruler, a measurement conversion chart, time zones, holidays across the world). Just love it.

The dating of the calendar week starting on Monday (instead of the usual Tuesday) really is disorienting -- I kept looking at the wrong spaces since I've been using a Sun.-Sat. calendar my whole life. Not helpful, so I eventually ended up re-numbering and re-dating each month. This didn't take long, but it did make the calendar look messy. Also, the printing on the pages is very light.
If they used a Sun. - Saturday week format and made the ink darker, this would be the perfect datebook -- small enough to still be carried around in most modern-sized purses, but big enough that you have room to write in the squares. Still, without these fixes, I wouldn't buy it again.

Best Planner Ever,

This is the best planner ever. I had the 2009, 2010, and now 2012. It allows you to view your whole month at a glance, for those of us who have busy schedules, and still leaves room enough to write in every day. Its very lightweight as well and convenient to carry in a purse. Mine goes everywhere with me. Looks good, too.

As a longtime Moleskine user, I always have faith that their product will be exactly what I'm looking for. Since I've always bought the weekly planners, I was weary that the boxes wouldn't be big enough to fit my handwriting, they're the perfect size! It's light weight enough for me to toss into my bag and doesn't take up much room. The quality is still the same in my opinion.I happen to love that the planner starts on Mondays. It makes it easier on me since my work week starts on Monday, giving me room to put how many hours I worked in the Sunday box, or the notes box beside it. The month spans across to pages with two lined pages following it for notes. The handy extras that it comes with: -Personal Data -Monthly overview 2012-2013 -International Holidays -Travel Planning/Travels Memo -Time Zones -Dialing Codes, Internet TLD, Plate Codes -Measures & Conversions -International Sizes -Ruler -Expansive inner pocket -Adhesive Tabs I only wish they came with more tabs. Hopefully Moleskine will put extra stickers up for sale one day.

The only con that I can think of is that each week starts on Monday instead of Sunday, so that took some getting used to. I used it all this year and am now planning on ordering one for next year! I really like that the weekend is all together on the right; something to look forward to:) The cover has been extremely durable, even through the daily excitement that is my purse! Highly recommended!!

My biggest disappointment with this calendar is that the days run Monday thru Sunday instead of Sunday thru Saturday. Every other calendar in my life runs Sun - Sat, so when I look at this one, I have to re-adjust my glance to remember "oh yeah - the 2nd day in is not Monday, it's Tuesday." Granted, my fault for not realizing it when I looked at the pages on line. But it was a big disappointment when I realized it.

Ok...loved it the first time around. The perfect planner for me, though the Monday first thing takes a bit of getting used to. But why on Earth would anyone sell a 2009 planner in December of 2010?
And being that it was a gift for Christmas really messed me up. So guess the lesson is READ carefully before you click [BUY]!

I used to own an x-large weekly planner (18-month). It turns out that I don't have much to write for a single day. So it ends up to a meeting notebook. This monthly notebook is a better match to my needs: large calendar for monthly overview, enough space for a few key items per day (and per week) in a square. I extremely like the 2 ruled pages per month and the last 51 pages. Socrates once said: "The unexamined life is not worth living." That gives an idea of using those pages: to write down monthly/weekly reviews.
However, if you are looking for a real PLANNER, I doubt if this one will suit your needs. I would rather recommend one from Moleskine weekly planner series, as they have more space for to-dos instead of notes. Depending on your lifestyle and how you want to carry those notebooks around, you may like the ones with/without daily hours; with/without ruled page, pocket/large/x-large, etc. Plus they seem to have more discounts. By the way, I like weeks start with Mondays and I guess it is the way Moleskine goes with. Just like Americans use Month/Day/Year while Europeans use Day/Month/Year...In my home country nobody ever uses Sunday as the start of a week.

Great layout,
This review is from: Moleskine Monthly Notebook - 2010 12 Month - Large, Soft Black (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
This is the perfect monthly planner for me only too small. Between each month there is an empty page to expound on the month's detail or jot down notes. Be careful when ordering though, I had to order twice since the "large" was not that large. Since they all look alike, it is like a mini version of the x-large.
