I really love the format of this planner, a weekly view with a full page for notes.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent tool for time management, July 3, 2009
This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook July 2009 - December 2010 18 Month Soft Black Large (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
For me, at least.

I need a paper planner for a number of reasons, but the most important to me is that I'm a tactile kind of person and like to hold the book not look at a screen, and that the act of writing helps me remember appointments and tasks where typing does not.

The seven days of the week on one side and a lined page on the other is the best format for me. I have relatively few appointments, but many tasks per week that go on the lined page.

I've had Moleskine products with the soft cover, and they are OK for light use, but I carry and use a planner almost constantly. This lost the planner a half a star. Regardless, the hard cover stands up to this use better.

Other planners have the address book that slips into the pocket in back. I miss that, and that is what lost this product the rest of that star.

The pocket size (3.5 in by 5.5 in)just doesn't have enough space, and if I cram it, the writing is too hard on the eyes. This one, the large book is about 8 in by 5 in, and much more comfortable to write in and read, while not being excessively bulky.

The spare blank pages, the year overview calendar, and the pocket inside the back cover are above and beyond what I expect in a planner, but I have grown accustomed to them and use them regularly.

Excellent tool, and I recommend it to anyone who prefers (or might prefer) a physical rather than virtual planner.

3.0 out of 5 stars nice format, wish the paper was better, June 28, 2010
I really love the format of this planner, a weekly view with a full page for notes.

My only problem with it is, unfortunately, a kind of big deal to me. This softcover planner uses a lower quality paper than the regular Moleskine notebooks. The pages are noticeably more thin, so the ink from my favorite brand of pen shows through. Whenever I turn to a fresh, new week, I can see all my notes from the week before.

It's taken me years to find a brand of pen that I love (and they work just fine in the normal Moleskines), so carrying around something with lighter ink suitable for these thin pages doesn't appeal to me. It's easier just to get a different planner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Size and Perfect Layout, June 24, 2009
By
This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook July 2009 - December 2010 18 Month Soft Black Large (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
This Moleskine was exactly what I wanted. The layout is perfect: one page with week-view and the facing page lined for notes/tasks.

There is a small pocket on the inside of the back cover that makes flipping through the notebook a little difficult. But how often would you actually be flipping through it? The pocket is nice to have to store a few small sheets of loose paper.

And the size, 8.2 x 5.2 inches, is small enough that you can carry it basically anywhere and large enough that you have plenty of room to write.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, August 7, 2008
The other reviews largely criticize delivery of the planner, so I just wanted to say that I have one of these planners and I love it. The paper is high quality, and I love having a note page every week. I would prefer a hard cover, which is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook July 2009 - December 2010 18 Month Soft Black Large (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
This is the best planner I have ever owned. Perfect amount of space for writing each day, beautiful pages, and plenty of blank pages to jot down extra things. The leather covers are beautiful and classic.

It is the prefect size to actually fit information and details for a variety of tasks, while still small enough to fit in my purse. Its set-up is perfect for planning and taking notes or jotting down ideas in the same place!

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT school planner!, September 14, 2008

This notebook is absolutely perfect as a school planner. I didn't think I would like that all the days are on one side and there is a blank page on the other, but I actually love it. I've filled up that blank page every week so far. And I almost never run out of space on the days. I would definitely highly recommend this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not like it used to be, July 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is PSA to those that have used and loved moleskines forever: I just purchased this one, and after having used this exact planner for the past two years, the moment I held the 2011-2012 planner in my hands, I knew something was off. It seems like Moleskine has skimped on their materials - the cover and backing doesn't use the same thick paper they used previously; thus, it's a lot more flimsy than it used to be. I've never been worried about my moleskine not lasting for a whole year, but with this flimsy cover it seems like it might not stand up to the abuse of more than a few months...

1.0 out of 5 stars Shocked and appalled, October 7, 2011

I've always equated Moleskin to top drawer quality, but having received this notebook, I am absolutely shocked and appalled. Cheap cover material and paper weight so thin, ink writing likely would bleed or show through. Completely disillusioned. Returning post haste.

4.0 out of 5 stars Moleskin-licious, May 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am very happy with my new notebook. It is exactly what I've seen in the stores, good quality--no imitation here. Love the little pocket in the back, only comment is the paper is slightly see through. The ink does not bleed through, but is slightly visible on the backside of a page.
