5.0 out of 5 stars Love this and buying for my College age children
I have had this weekly notebook for the last year- I have the 2008/2009 edition that started in July 2008 going through Dec 2009. I was late at looking for a planner so being midway through the year this was a great option. 2.0 out of 5 stars Good design, handy pocket but a bit stinky (CA Prop. 65)
The Moleskine is a well designed product. The week is listed on the left and a full blank page for other quick notes on the right. The pocket on the back inside flap is great for all the little bits of detritus and receipts that seem to get collected as the year goes by.

There are all sorts of sites on-line that offer great hint for 'hacking' the notebook...

I have had this weekly notebook for the last year- I have the 2008/2009 edition that started in July 2008 going through Dec 2009. I was late at looking for a planner so being midway through the year this was a great option. Now, I will need the 12 month 2010, but I was mentioning to my children how much I have come to love this notebook. They both mention they were interested so I am buying this for them; they are both in college now. The pocket edition is great for purse or pocket. Like the other moleskine notebooks it has the same wonderful features of a fabric bookmark, elastic strap to keep it closed, and the expandable pocket on the back cover perfect to keep anything like cards with appointments, receipts etc. They will not fall out!! I have gradually made use of these excellent features- I forgot about the pocket on the inside of the back cover, perfect for business cards! It has 11 blank pages at the end labeled Notes, and in the front are a few pages with general references such as holidays around the world, measurement equivalents, A calender with moon phases, which are also shown in the weekly calendar and more. Great weekly calendar and notebook, I really like the notebook page with each week for additional notes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good design, handy pocket but a bit stinky (CA Prop. 65), September 21, 2010
The Moleskine is a well designed product. The week is listed on the left and a full blank page for other quick notes on the right. The pocket on the back inside flap is great for all the little bits of detritus and receipts that seem to get collected as the year goes by.

There are all sorts of sites on-line that offer great hint for 'hacking' the notebook to make it even more functional. There is a great hack for adding a pen holder to the spine via duct tape (or gaffer tape if one prefers). Super. Cool. If one could use it immediately. The problem is that when the shrink-wrap is taken off of the new Moleskine, you notice an odd smell.

The new book smells so bad that I had to leave it out in the garage for nearly a week sitting upright with the pages fanned apart to get the smell out. If you look at the ordering page here at Amazon, you'll notice a Proposition 65 warning. Prop 65 was written to give consumers a warning when anything that goes into a product might be hazardous to the population's health. The Moleskines, currently made in China, uses the chemical DEHP (Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate), a type of plastic softener. It is the source of the smell. I feel sorry for the workers that have to be around this chemical on a daily basis--it really stinks.

This will be the last Moleskine for me, I will try the PaperBlank model for 2011. Or perhaps I'll try the Rhodia planner. Too bad, I was just getting used to the format too.

I am 62 years old and this is the best planner I have ever used. Love that it lies flat, has a place marker ribbon, has nice thin pages while still being quite durable, and a band that keeps all the pages together. Also size fits into any of my purses. Really perfect!

3.0 out of 5 stars Like the format, love the quality, but this one is too small for me, November 22, 2009
This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook 2010 18 Month Soft Black Pocket (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
But might not be too small for you.

The week-in-view opposite a lined page works extremely well for me. The 18 month book is also excellent as it allows for a much more practical planning timeframe. Once you start using it, you'll always have at least seven months worth of planning Space available to you (assuming you buy your new one at the end of May).

Moleskine quality is excellent. Materials and workmanship are excellent, especially for what amounts to an expendable item (you'll be getting a new one every year, right?). I can use this daily for 12 months, including carrying it around in a rucksack, without wearing it out.

Excellent tool for planning if you don't use an electronic gadget.

This one, however, is the pocket size. As good as it is, it is too small for my needs. The 13 1/2cm by 21 cm version is much better suited to my needs, handwriting, and eyesight. Hence three rather than five stars. The soft cover may or may not be an issue for you. I'm still undecided, but leaning toward the hard cover, as I use mine as a surface to write on sometimes. Didn't effect my rating, but might effect your decision.

And it might be a five star planner for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful and Durable, July 13, 2009

This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook 2010 18 Month Soft Black Pocket (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
I have been using this weekly planner for about two weeks now and I found it to be very useful. Its pocket size, I need it to remind me of a few things that I need to do. If you are one that needs to write and keep track of a whole bunch of things, you may want to opt for the next size up. I was a bit apprehensive about getting the soft cover but turns out its pretty durable. I also like the pocket that is in the back of the planner, its just big enough to fit a 3X5 index card. I use the index cards to store useful information such as phone numbers. Its very simple and for that reason it is extremely useful. Good buy overall.

I'm old school paper calendar, so I love this notebook. I've been using one and my son liked it so much, I bought another one for him. I like the full calendar in the beginning and then space on one page for major weekly events and the blank page next to it for other details and lists. I don't use the stickers that come with it, but my son does. I also like the 18 months so I can keep track of school year events in one place instead of switching to a new calendar in January. The small size fits perfectly in my purse and it's durable with the moleskin cover to last the beating it takes. Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It!, August 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The size and feel of the book is perfect. The format is wonderful, and the "extra" sections are interesting (although I don't believe I'm ever going to need to know the national holidays of Slovenia).

The reason I chose this book is for the lined pages, so I can not only use it as an organizer, but a diary/scrapbook.

So far I find myself wanting to carry it around with me all day, and I certainly can't say that about the dollar store notebooks/date books that I've been buying the past few years.

Yes they cost more, but there's something extra cool about the Moleskine that makes it worth it.

I purchased this and the NYC City Guide. I adore them both. And I'll be buying more very soon.

P.S. To those of you that "cannot find the stickers" - they're in the back pocket.

Great organized notebook. Very durable leather cover. I have no complaints. Page marker is very convenient, as well as the elastic band that keeps it closed. Highly classy also!

1.0 out of 5 stars Quality has gone downhill, June 25, 2011

(REAL NAME)
I have used and carried Moleskine notebooks for years due to the great paper and build quality, but 2011 will be my last one. The construction of their books is no longer anything special, especially for the price they demand. With my latest book the elastic came unglued from one end, then the other, and now the pocket bottom has worn through. When I contacted them, I was surprised to learn these are no longer made in Europe, but in China.

Moleskine has gone from a true quality product, to just another piece of Chinese made junk.

There are better options on the market.
