5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent tool for time management, May 3, 2009
This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook 2010 18 month Hard Black Large (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
For me, at least.

I need a paper planner for a number of reasons, but the most important to me is that I'm a tactile kind of person and like to hold the book not look at a screen, and that the act of writing helps me remember appointments and tasks where typing does not.

The seven days of the week on one side and a lined page on the other is the best format for me. I have relatively few appointments [...], but many tasks per week that go on the lined page.

I've had Moleskine products with the soft cover, and they are OK for light use, but I carry and use a planner almost constantly. The hard cover stands up to this use nicely.

I like the address book that slips into the pocket in back. I'll bring last year's forward to this book rather than recopy it or trust some electronic gadget, that I might not have when I need it.

The pocket size (3.5 in by 5.5 in)just doesn't have enough space, and if I cram it, the writing is too hard on the eyes. This one, the large book is about 8 in by 5 in, and much more comfortable to write in and read, while not being excessively bulky.

The spare blank pages, the year overview calendar, and the pocket inside the back cover are above and beyond what I expect in a planner, but I have grown accustomed to them and use them regularly.

Excellent tool, and I recommend it to anyone who prefers (or might prefer) a physical rather than virtual planner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs more space for weekend days, November 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook 2010 18 month Hard Black Large (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
I have been using the Moleskine large 18 month weekly notebook this year, and I really like it. I like having an entire page for notes every week. However, the spaces for Saturday and Sunday are way too small. This is a big problem for me because I have very busy weekends. There is a lot of wasted space at the top of the weekly page, if they could move that top line up so that Saturday and Sunday can have more space, then this planner would be perfect. I especially like that the 2010-2011 version has monthly calendars with the days as squares to write in, instead of the monthly columns as in years previous.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect size (Large 5x8') - original and perfect for me format - off white thin pages, September 12, 2009

Cost - even at around $13 it's a bit pricey - (manufactured in China, designed in Italy)
Perfect size - not too small - enough room to write and not too large, still can carry with you easily - just throw into a bag - especially that the elastic can keep the planner from opening up
Format - perfect for me - I write notes almost daily, but some days I need to write a lot and some nothing, so the side page allows me to make the best use of space.
Perfect Cover (Hard)- not bulky/not too thick, but sturdy with rounded corners
Pages Quality - a bit on the thin side, but I guess that's what keeps the planner from becoming too full/bulky - Can't use "juicy pens" like sharpie pens :( but regular pens are good if you don't press too hard and pencil looks/writes beautifully on these off white pages.
Extras-useful info in front few pages and a pocket in the back, inside

Four stars b/c I believe it can improve for an even more stellar product. Also, the last few page are for an address book? I don't know who still could use these and rewrite them yearly, but I could use them for notes (in alphabetical order) - nicely lined pages.

Great Dealing with Amazon - They do respond and apply reasonable efforts to satisfy customer.
Originally ordered the soft cover version but turned out to be out of stock (I was not notified - I had to call a week later and was told that it was actually out of stock and now it says it will take 1 to 2 months to be in stock - I was quiet upset then, b/c really wanted the "large" size version), Amazon was great at offering free one day shipping on either one (hard or soft), which ever one becomes available first.
When I called or emailed Amazon - someone always responded quickly, resolving issues in an effective and timely manner.
Thank you Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars 18 month planner = good transition from school calendar to real world, October 21, 2009

I love this moleskine. It was perfect for me as I was transitioning from using school year calendars in college to needing a calendar that would end at the end of the calendar year. This planner was for 1.5 years and was just what I needed to transition from college back to a "normal" calendar-year planner after buying September-September calendars for years. I like that every-other page (so the one side of each page) is a note-page. Great buy -- as always with moleskines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Everything I needed, July 5, 2009
This review is from: Moleskine Academic Weekly Notebook 2010 18 month Hard Black Large (Moleskine Srl) (Calendar)
I'm very happy with this planner/notebook. Since I do most of my monthly planning on the computer, and just need a planner for appointments, meetings, homework assignments, the left side is adequate for me, even though there's not a whole lot of room for writing (especially on weekends). What I'm most excited about is the right side, which is just lined notebook paper. I make lots of to-do lists, so this is the perfect way for me to keep my to-do lists in one place.

There is a lot of useful information in the beginning (holidays for various countries and such); I found a few typos but otherwise it looks pretty good. There is a minimal address book in the back, as well as some extra note paper.

All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

I bought this back in August for $18.28. So, I'm not really disturbed by cheaper prices. I use this notebook every day. It holds a good piece of my life. I'm kind of worried that I'm going to wear it out before 2009 is up, but I'll live with that because the format is great for what I do.

Thank you, Anthony! This exact book is only $17.95 on the Moleskin site. The smaller one is much cheaper at $14.50 as well.
