The metro map was very handy as well.
Connie
It is small enough to fit in my purse and has a wonderful city maps section that is very useful.
Nini
I would give this a higher star rating if the maps were improved.

Was given this book as a gift for my trip to Paris. It was THE book I kept on me at all times. An indispensible tool for the travler who likes to travel light. The maps, broken down in areas, were great for walking the often complex Paris streets. Blank sheets to jot down addresses of that special restarurant or patisserie. Smaller note sheets to tear out after using them, say, for metro directions. A small pocket for ticket stubs. A truly useful tool for getting around. Going to Rome later this year and will get the Rome version. Another bonus, you can give your book to friends after you use it so they can benefit from your notes and book info. It does not have destination information, so you'll have to use another book for that, like Eyewitness Travel (good also). So get out there!

I am a list writer. It helps me feel more prepared. This is an excellent Moleskine notebook for me in preparation for my upcoming trip to Paris. I love that there are maps of the metro and also the city. I was able to write down important phone numbers to my credit card company, etc. and also had a spot to write in the addresses of those I plan to send postcards to back home. I also made lists of movies I watched in preparation for the trip (travel documentaries, etc.) and I made lists of all of the things I really didn't want to miss. There's plenty of space for little lists and thoughts while I'm there too. I recommend this to anyone who thinks that the time and thought you devote prior to a trip helps enrich the experience while you are there, and helps you remember what you did when you return. :)

This is an elegant, somewhat useful notebook with a great idea behind it. Plus it's tiny and adorable. The trouble is, I have a ton of elegant, adorable notebooks already. I bought this one not for want of 200-ish acid-free pages, a few inches of sturdy thread, and some black cardboard rectangles (charming as they are), but for want of an iPhone or any sense of direction. What I'm saying is that all I really wanted it for was the discreet little street map of Paris, to help me find my way around the 20th arrondissement, where I was staying, and where I may very well always want to stay. Which turned out to be too bad for me, because the detail map provided in this notebook leaves off that part of Paris just as if it didn't exist (it's not even marked on the wide-shot map of the whole city), along with large bits of the 14th and 16th, and almost all of the 11th, 12th, 13th and 19th. I immediately threw away the little slip of paper that came folded around this notebook (which also comes wrapped in plastic, making it impossible to look through before buying in a store), but I don't think this lack of attention to the outer arrondissements was clearly indicated anywhere. Even if it was, the decision to leave off so much of what is still, after all, central Paris, and a city whose outer neighbourhoods are in many places only getting more vital and more interesting all the time, strikes me as one that very much diminishes what this notebook might have had to offer over an ordinary one.

I spent a month in Paris with this notebook, and used it every day. The maps are great and the tabbed pages are useful when you need to find something. I also liked the three fabric page markers, so you can have one at a map, one on a blank note page, and one on the tabbed page item you're trying to get to. The only slight problem I had was my front cover came unglued, but I taped it together and it held up fine after that.
I really liked having an all-in-one reference that doesn't scream TOURIST!

This little notebook was a positive lifesaver when I spent a semester abroad in Paris. My classmates would always borrow my notebook to inconspicuously check the metro map and save us from looking like that dreaded t-word: tourists. I have the memory of a goldfish, so the map was infinitely useful to me, as was all the space I made good use of to document important phone numbers and addresses. (Someone wants my number? Darn, I can never remember my weird new 8-digit one... BUT LO AND BEHOLD, there were even tiny tear-out squares I could copy it down on to give to cute guys. I mean, new friends).
But most importantly to me, my little notebook serves as the best scrapbook that I could ever have envisioned for my incredible trip. Since it was always on me, recording memories and adding in ticket stubs was a breeze and I often did it on boring metro commutes. The notebook brings back so many memories without my even reading the journal-like content I added, not to mention that the pages I didn't use are literally the perfect size for the 3.5 x 5 photos I glued in when I got home.
If you're creative with this product, it'll easily be your best friend and a wonderful, compact, memory of some of the best times of your life.
This is my first review of a product on Amazon (though I've purchased dozens); I just had to share the most treasured part of my travels. :)
ENJOY!

I got the Paris city book on sale, even though I assume it was discounted because they are about to rewrite it and update the city info. This version works for my purposes, in that I toured Paris and Bordeaux in the Spring of 2007 and have many artifacts, wine labels, menus, postcards and impressions stashed away that I want to incorporate into a nice after-tour memento. Has metro maps and all the routine attn to detail that Moleskine is famous for.
