However, one drawback that will prevent me from buying this product again is that the grid lines are too dark. I tend to write in (mechanical) pencil so the grid lines on this product are too over barring (for my taste). The ruled journal has lighter lines but for some reason the Squared Notebook's grid lines are dark such that they make it notably more difficult to read your own writing (or sketches).
Not sure why the grid lines need to be so dark but I would really enjoy this product if the grid lines were much lighter.
I found the grid version accidentally on Amazon and be still my beating heart! GRID SQUARES?! In a durable notebook that looks more like pointy nose literature you could use to chat up dirty blonde clod-shod nurses wearing hot librarian glasses at the hospital cafeteria (well, assuming you had a black Lab puppy with you or something I guess, I have no game and will die alone) or the secret operating manual for a nuclear missile silo? And it doesn't make you look like you're going back for your GED at 30 if people see you carrying it to the truck or see it sitting on your desk at work? I was hooked. These things are better than crack, they should just give the first one away free and you'll be lining up for more at any price. I discovered it's a very high quality tool that's worth paying a premium for and wished I'd had these a long time ago.
Let me break it down for you: I'm an engineer and while going through the four year long, sleep deprived, 80-hour week, repetitive kick in the b@%$# that is engineering school they make you (yes, MAKE you!Read more ›
I'm very happy with how it fits its task.
The squared paper is really nice, and light enough to not be a bother when writing or pops out and makes everything too much to read.
The paper is a nice cream color. which is really easy on the eyes. Depending on your pen/marker, of course, it doesn't seem to bleed through the other side of the paper, which is a D-R-E-A-M! I wrote August in with a prismacolor marker and THAT bleed through, but those are really art markers that require thicker paper, so there's that. I posted photos of the backsides of some pages to show you :) The second to last is that back of 005 prismacolor art pens, muji pens, and pilot 05 pen :)
The quality of the binding is really swell, really durable and the expandable pocket is great for note cards or things of the sort, I haven't tried cramming anything in there, but I'll test that out later.
The band that wraps around the book is great too, its not too stretchy, doesn't feel like it would stretch out and fall off, yet at the same time just enough give to enclose the book. Lovely!
My favorite thing about it is the edges are evenly seamed along with the size of the paper, check out my photos to get my meaning.
I bought my boyfriend a white ruled journal, also from the classic collection, and the covers jut out just a bit longer than the pages themselves.
Overall, just buy it already!!!!! :)
Update - 10/7/15: I purchased two more of these within the last several months, and the paper quality was much better - little or no bleed-through from the other side. So I am upping my rating by 1-star from 3 to 4. I am changing my recommendation from "don't buy" to "buy". I fill up 4-6 of these per year, so I'll see how the quality holds up over the next 6 months. If it does hold up, I'll boost my rating to 5-stars.
--------------------- Original Review ------------------
I have been writing notes in Moleskine notebooks for years and years, and I had come to take their excellent quality for granted.
In the last year or so, the quality of the paper has dropped to the point that the ink from the writing on one side "bleeds through" to the other side.
Comparing newly purchased notebooks with older ones, one can see that the bleed-through has worsened significantly.
In the older notebooks, one could barely see the writing on the other side - it was virtually unnoticeable.
In the new notebooks, the bleed-through is so bad you can read what is written on the other side, so you are writing, not on a blank sheet, but on a messy background of bled-through text.Read more ›

I've been a big Moleskin fan for many years. Stout construction and I especially like the grid option on the pages. Good experience with this seller.Published 1 day ago by UAEer
Works fine except the 1/4 inch squares makes for a very narrow line to write on. Looks good. The ribbon bookmark is nice and the elastic band to hold the book shut is great.Published 3 days ago by Dianne L. Mork

This is the perfect journal for bullet journaling! Nice finish on the outside. The pages are crisp and fairly thick. They don't have too much bleed through. Overall great product!Published 8 days ago by Amazon Customer
With the way everyone raves about these, I fully expected the pages to be less transparent. It's easy to write on, looks good, and the pocket is great. Read morePublished 14 days ago by Steve H.
