I am not happy with the quality of the pencil after the nib fell out after only two or three months of use. The mechanical lead advancement mechanism has not worked very well for some time now and the finish came off the clip some time ago. Frankly, for ~$15 it did not live up to the hype.

I bought this pencil at a Barnes and Noble at full price, because I like the quality of the Moleskin books, and based on branding bought the pencil without a closer look.
First, it only comes with one lead, so buy replacement led right away or you'll have a "D'oh" moment.
Second, as mentioned the lack of an eraser. Why no eraser?
The reason why I'm mad about the lack of an eraser, is that the pencil is very plasticy and light (though the clip part seems sturdy).
The pencil is comfortable, and hasn't broken yet, hence why it got three stars. But for a msrp of $15, and a sale price of over $10, just seems like you can get so much more pencil for the money.

I am a big fan of Moleskine notebooks, so I just bought the mechanical pencil without given it much thought. I am a very busy person & use my existing mechanical pencil all day long with my Moleskine Evernote Smart Notebook. I bought the pencil because I liked the idea of it clipping onto the notebook. But first it came in scratched right out of the packaging. The black coating on the clip was already coming off slightly. Then I noticed the lead feeder when you take off the cap really doesn't allow you to stock up on leads so you would have to carry extra leads with you. I work, college student, physics & math tutor & I burn through lead like crazy all week. There is no way this mechanical pencil could keep up with me. Now for someone who is a casual user of it then I think it would be doable only if the price matched the production quality of it. Hopefully they will redesign it to be a better compliment to their notebooks.

The pencil is great. It works great, it looks great, and I love how it easily clips on to my moleskine notebooks, but why didn't they just make it with an eraser? The reason you buy a pencil is so you can erase mistakes or change things up. For a company that prides itself on the marriage of functionality and design, this is kind of an overlook. Oh well, I can always carry an eraser around in my pocket, but it's pretty annoying having it remember it all the time. Aside from it not having an eraser, I'm quite happy with it. I've only had it for about a month, but I'm sure it will last for a very long time.

... you're not really the Moleskine demographic (as I said on my review of the Moleskine pen). But really, it works well as mechanical pencil and if you're dead set on buying a ~$15 pencil just because it fits on your hardcover Moleskine notebook (note: it does not work on a softcover notebook), then you'll make out fine. Still, I'd rather use an aftermarket pen holster like Quiver (also available at Amazon) which allows me to use my choice of pen/pencil and can be used on hardback and softcover notebooks alike, assuming you buy the $3 softcover converter.

This is a great mechanical pencil. It's very light weight plastic, but it seems to be pretty rugged. So far, after about a month of use, it hasn't jammed, broken up the lead, or malfunctioned in any way. One thing to be aware of is that there is no eraser on this pencil. When you pull off the little clicker button, there's just a feeder tube for the lead. The best feature of this pencil is the shape. It's a flattened tube; it would be rectangular in cross section. This makes it very comfortable to hold without slipping or rolling in your fingers. It also makes it impossible to roll off of a desk, hit the floor, bend the tip, and smash the lead. Been there, done that...

Bottom line: A great, functional, durable, and even attractive mechanical pencil.

I usually don't write reviews, but was negatively inspired enough to write one for this item.

I impulse purchased this pencil at Staples the other day to use with a moleskine hardcover diary/planner that I've been using so far this year with honestly no thought at all as it is moleskine brand. I have tried it out for 2 days now and can tell you that I regret the $15 I spent on this item incredibly much.

It is bulky. While it writes well, I can't stand carrying it around in my pocket with the journal. The only positive is the rectanglular shape doesn't roll, but usually pencils with a clip don't role anyway, instead it just gets caught on things in your pocket or bag.

There is no eraser. For me, the whole point of using a pencil over a pen is so that you can erase and I refuse to carry around an eraser in my pocket in addition to it.

It doesn't hold much lead, while it's bulky and rectangular, the lead cylinder is super small (think pen ink cylinder size).

The clip is is already damaging my moleskin notebook cover where it clips on, maybe that is because I have a page-a-day 12 month year notebook that has a lot of pages so I would guess the cover is thicker than a smaller size moleskine?

This item is not going to work for me at all. I cannot endorse it's use to anyone in my imagination, but I'm sure there are some out there that like how it looks.
