Excellent lightweight notebook/wallet substitute. However, detachable pages present problems ..., October 25, 2008
Excellent alternative to the heavier full-size (same length/width dimensions, with more sheets). These are light-weight, easier to carry in pocket without adding bulk. The rear flap pocket is useful; i carry cash & a credit card there, and no longer carry a wallet, just the notebook. Fits perfectly in shirt pocket. However, as noted on the front packaging, "64 lined pages, last 16 sheets detachable". This is somewhat confusing. The last 32 pages (16 sheets) are detachable, namely half of notebook. I find this less than ideal, as the sheets are perforated & so can be prone to detaching on their own (when un-wanted), especially if you don't fill up the notebook very fast & are carrying it around a while. Also, the detachable sheets are a little less convenient to write on, as they do not lay flat, but pop up at the point of the perforation. Would like to see this notebook in all non-detachable pages; or fewer detachable pages; or pages that less easily detach. Otherwise, excellent product. update, October 2011 I see another reviewer below finds the notebook does not stand up to the rigors of everyday use. My experience has been otherwise. The current notebook has not filled up very fast at all, as i've started using also index cards. Anyways, the point is, it is over a year old, and the cover is very worn. Although the cover has ripped away from the binding at the bottom front, this is less than an inch, and most importantly, the cover is not falling off, but remains pretty sturdily in place. It certainly looks worn, and has elicited the comment that it looks like what Indiana Jones carries around.

Handy size, not up to rigors of day-to-day life in a pocket, March 2, 2010
This review is from: Moleskine Ruled Cahier Journal Black Pocket: set of 3 Ruled Journals (Paperback)
This is a nice little notebook. It's thin, light, flexible and adds no bulk. It nearly disappears once its in your pocket.
However, if you're planning to carry it in your back pocket on a day to day basis, you'll find that it doesn't hold up well. I'm an office worker, and the one that I've carried one for about a month is in fairly rough shape. The cover is heavily worn and the pages seems to be a bit loose at the bindings. Also, the pages are, well, paper thin. More like vellum than normal Moleskine notebook paper. I can easily see the previous page's writing through the next, which makes it tough to discern at a quick glance.
I'm sure this would be fine in a purse or bag, but if you plan to keep it in your pocket, you may want to consider the tougher Flexible Reporter notebook instead. It's a bit thicker, about as thick as three of the cahiers stacked together, but is much more sturdy.

Nice Product, August 10, 2008
This review is from: Moleskine Ruled Cahier Journal Black Pocket: set of 3 Ruled Journals (Paperback)
I really like this product, it's a nice alternative to the more expensive notebooks. Don't expect the traditional Moleskine feel though, it's a thinner material, but still a high quality product, i've had my set of three for a little more than three months, i take one with me everywhere to jot down stray thoughts and the other two i fill with writings that my wife takes with her her when she goes on trips. I am very pleased with the professional look and feel of these notebooks, and i recommend this product to anyone looking for a journal with a nice look and feel to have around. I do miss the elastic closure of the other Moleskine models, but a very nice price for a very nice pack of notebooks
