I like these because you get as much writing room as you do on the thicker ones, but they're not so heavy because it comes in two books! I like the color, the weight, and the size. Great little notebook for taking everywhere.

I used to use legal pads, spiral pads, any type of pad that was around for work. Things got confusing! So I bought myself a few of these moleskins. They are the perfect size... very portable, great quality construction. I highly recommend them.

I just finished writing a review about the Rhodia Webnotebook claiming my new found love for it. I also compared it with the traditional Moleskine Large notebook, finally coming to the conclusion that I love them both equally. However, when looking at this style of notebook no other company can even come close to competing for my love. The reasons I find the large ruled Volant so awesome are numerous but a few stand out above the rest. First and foremost the size is perfect for almost any application due to the slim, light, and durable design. And because each of the 96 pages has 32 lines to write on (I believe college ruled if not very similar) it holds a great amount of information without being to large where I would need to write stuff that isn't necessary just to fill the page. The color of paper is a soft ivory and very easy on the eyes, and the last 16 pages are perforated for easy and clean removal. Moleskine does such a great job with their binding process that I have never lost a page due to falling out of the notebook in over 8 years of using their products. My favorite feature is the various colors the Volant is available in and each pack comes with two shades of the advertised color. Without owning them all I still have a different color for each month of the year for easy filing.I happen to have fallen in love with writing with fountain pens this past year and this poses the only downside to Moleskine in general. The paper does have a decent amount of show through making it either messy to use both sides of the paper or very hard to read at times. Since that is my only complaint I still think these notebooks are unparalleled in this category.

I like my notebooks quite a lot. They're a great size, both in actual size and in number of pages. The paper is nice (though if you're using any sort of liquid ink, be careful about smudging before the ink dries). My only real complaint is that my Staedtler pens show through the paper, making me unable to use both sides, which is quite a disappointment. This may not be the case with other notebooks from Moleksine, though; I'm going to try the Cahier notebooks and see how they compare. They'll be great to take along with me on a road trip this summer as way to document my travels.

Having tried multiple types of notebooks and papers, I have finally found the one that works best. The size, lines, heft, and durability of this product is unique.

Convenient and durable notebook, a bit overpriced,

So I picked up a couple of these because of the decent price, and I must say that the quality just matches the price of roughly $5 for a notebook. Although the notebook is small and pretty thin, the strongest feature of it is the binding. Unlike spirals or comp books, these volant books are more securely bound and don't snag or get bent out of shape. The last few pages are perforated, a feature which I'm not sure I'm going to use - but I'm not complaining. The paper is smooth and cream colored (of course) with light college ruled gray lines, so it's very easy on the eyes when writing under a relatively bright light. Unlike other moleskine books though, this paper is slightly thinner and whatever you use to write shows through the other side just a tad. Whether you're using pencil or a gel ink pen (preferred), it won't show through dark enough to prevent you from using the other side of the pages - which is good, because there aren't that many to begin with. The size is actually convenient and fits into most bookbag pockets or purses. I now bring these little notebooks everywhere because they are so convenient and durable. The classic moleskine back pocket is missing from these, though. A star docked off for the price. It's a simple notebook, a tad overpriced. |
