I Love This Band!,
By jeninmaine (Maine, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Molinos (Audio CD)
I saw this band for the first time this weekend at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, sandwiched between two acts I wanted to see. I figured, "Okay, I'll sit through their set since I already have a good view," and I am SO GLAD I did!The Paperboys are amazing in concert, I suggest that you not only buy this album, but look up their schedule and get your bad old self to their next venue! Very upbeat, well-styled Celtic/popular/Ska-esque music - Tom Landa has a classic voice that is easy to listen to, reminding me of such vocal greats as Buddy Holly. Shannon Saunders is a simply amazing fiddle player, her dexterity and interpretation of the music will grab you and make you want to leap up and dance. Hanz Araki, not only is he really cute, but his mastery of all things flute/pipe/pennywhistle will amaze you. I was finding myself constantly watching his fingers while he played, it seemed impossible that he was able to get those sounds out of his instruments. Run, don't walk, to the nearest Paperboys concert. Do not hesitate to click "Add to my shopping cart" right now. NOW! What are you waiting for? :)

The Winnipeg Folk Festival has a knack of finding the best bands out there. The Paperboys definitely are one of the best. Everytime I hear Same for Everyone I get goosebumps.

These Paperboys really deliver!!,

I strongly encourage people of all musical persuasions to try the Paperboys. I have shared the tunes with many ecclectic friends whose interests range from alternative to country to celtic to rock, and they all have found the sound attractive and upbeat. The individual performances excel and blend into something much bigger than the sum of Paperboy parts, lyrics are either fun or profound (or both...), and the mixing is clean and crisp. I first was exposed to Paperboys at Celtic Mayhem in Albany, NY and I could not stop dancing from the moment they started to play. Every fiber tells me that you will love the sound of Paperboys!
