HEY BUY THIS ALBUM IT ROCKS and sounds like a live album should sound. To all the critics out there. Live is never perfect thats what makes it special. To all the people who like DJ's and everything perfect. I have a perfect zit on my ass just for you okay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Molly Hatchet "Live in Hamburg", October 15, 2008
This review is from: Molly Hatchet - Live In Hamburg 2004 (DVD/CD) (DVD)
MOLLY HATCHET ROCKS ON THIS CONCERT DVD!!! This is modern Molly Hatchet performing at their very best. This was filmed in Hamburg, Germany outside on the banks of a river, before a packed enthusiatic crowd. I have seen other Molly Hatchet concert dvds, but this is probably the best one. Molly Hatchet is one of those "Lynyrd Skynyrd" related Jacksonville, Florida, southern rock bands.

The line up consists of (I don't know all the names): A Lead Singer who is an excellent enthusiatic lead man, Bobby Ingram on lead guitar (this guy can really play, he also has a degree in accounting, the lead singer calls him the best guitar player alive), there is another guitar player, a bass guitar player, keyboard player, and drum player.

The concert consists of 20 songs with a running time of approximately 125 minutes. They play all their classics. Some highlights include: "Gator Country" (this is their "Sweet Home Alabama" or "the South's gonna do it again", -it describes why Florida is so great, and it name checks other Southern Rock Bands, it ends with Bobby Ingram playing "Dixie" with the lead singer holding a Rebel Flag behind him), "Moonlight Dancin on a Bayou", "Fall of the Peacemakers" (dedicated to our prisoners of war, POWs,and MIA's and our U.S.A. military personnel), "Beatin the Odds", "Son of the South", "The Rainbow Bridge", and an excellent guitar solo by Bobby Ingram which leads into their CLASSIC COVER VERSION of the Allman Brothers Band "Dreams" Molly Hatchet's version is very different from the Allman Brother's version - it is very UPBEAT AND ENTERGETIC and contains some excellent guitar play by Bobby Ingram, the entire band "JAMS" on this one, it's just an outstanding performance, which words which can't describe, and the concert ends with their classic song and performance of "Flirtin with Disater" which is a southern rock anthem.

There is significant bonus material, which includes an extensive interview with Bobby Ingram.

This is an excellent Southern Rock concert dvd that is very entertaining, very well performed, and very enjoyable to watch and enjoy, and therefore I highly recommend it.

Just went through all the reviews here. Most of you people need to wake up and smell the coffee. Of course this isn't DJB, he had to leave the band years ago. He DID however hand pick Phil as his replacement. I don't even own the dvd yet, but I know first hand what this should sound like. I'm about to place my order as soon as I finish this review. I DO have the music itself on cd-r though, which sounds much better than the tunes on Locked & Loaded, which I always thought sounded like crap. Recorded with WAY to much bass in it. Overall, this should be in any Molly Hatchets fans catalog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD/DVD from Molly Hatchet, December 17, 2006
This review is from: Molly Hatchet - Live In Hamburg 2004 (DVD/CD) (DVD)
LIVE IN HAMBURG is a great CD/DVD by Molly Hatchet, featuring several songs from WARRIORS OF THE RAINBOW BRIDGE. The CD equals the great LOCKED AND LOADED, eliminating some of the filler that clogged the previous live CD, but misses the timelees anthem "Flirtin' With Disaster", which IS on LOCKED AND LOADED, as well as on the DVD. The band members' advocacies of sanctions against Indonesia in retaliation for that country's trumped-up 2005 drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist, capital punishment for kidnappers, and increased funding for law enforcement, make LIVE IN HAMBURG an essential purchase for your ears, your eyes, AND your conscience.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Bobby Ingram Show!! Starring........, June 1, 2011
By
This review is from: Molly Hatchet - Live In Hamburg 2004 (DVD/CD) (DVD)
...Bobby Ingram! I am a Molly Hatchet fan, so Hearing these songs performed live is always a treat, even if it is by, what amounts to me as, The Molly Hatchet Tribute Show - Starring Bobby Ingram.
The film crew did a great job capturing the band live in a setting very fitting for a Hatchet concert, a Harley sponsored fest in Hamburg, Germany. The sound quality is very good as well, and in these areas I was very happy with the dvd. The choices of material for the show were spot on as well, covering the favorite old original MH classics and a good representation of the latter day stuff as well.
Here's my beef with the situation. At the time of this video recording, there was not a single original member in the band. John Galvin, the keyboardist, is the longest standing member here (original member Dave Hlubek has since rejoined the band, coming back in 2005, the year after this show was performed}. Galvin joined the band around 1984. Ingram, who seems to be the boss now, replaced Hlubek around 1987, debuting on the 1989 "Lightning Strikes Twice" lp, quite a few years from the bands first release in 1978.
Original vocalist Danny Joe Brown ultimately had to leave the band due to health issues which eventually caused his death. I've read that current singer Phil McCormack was chosen by Brown himself to take over the vocal chores. McCormack sounds incredibly like DJB and if Brown HAD to be replaced, then McCormack was a worthy choice. I don't like the way Ingram is played up as the darling of the band - I think its silly the way McCormack panders to him while the rest of the band, especially the bass player and second guitarist, are ignored as if they aren't even there.
Call me grumpy, but it annoys me. Tony Iommi got bitch-slapped left and right for dragging the Black Sabbath name thru the mire for years as the only original member. These bands, Hatchet, the current Marshall Tucker Band (singer Doug Gray the ONLY original member now), and most ghastly, the current Lynyrd Skynyrd line-up (Gary Rossington, the only original- and no I don't count Medlocke. He wasn't on "Pronounced...", "Second Helping", "Nuthin Fancy" or anything else until the mid-90's)are ALL too far removed from the original line-ups and it just becomes and cash cow at that point. I understand a member quits sometimes and ya replace them and move on, but Jeeez...c'mon guys. I KNOW the music is still played well, and its great to hear them played by a band with the name, at least, but for me, its nothing more than a very expensive "tribute band". Buy this dvd if you like the music, because the music is there, but it is NOT played by any of the guys that made you like 'em to start with. And try to ignore the fact that Ingram and McCormack seem to be a little sweet on each other.

The DVD is OK but the CD was a waste of time. Why leave out the last 3 full songs of the set, only to include the self indulgent instrumentals and solos?

THE GOOD
The tunes are awesome and powerful. True Hatchet talent all the way.

THE BAD
I kept the audio CD that comes with, but tossed the DVD. Bobby Ingram looks like a clone between Goldie Hawn and Chuck Norris [think I'm kiddin? look], but all the stupid showmanship gets old right from the get-go. I thought I was watching a Van Halen show, not a so-called 'down-home boys' group. And McCormack is CONSTANTLY prompting the audience to "MAKE SOME F'in NOISE!!!!" every four minutes. I got tired of that - real fast. EVERY SONG! Give us a break already.
The show screams "DIG ME! SEE ME! ME! ME! ME!" from those two all the way. I have received the live 'Flirtin' DVD also but am too skeered to watch it. I'm afraid I'll cop a bad attitude to a band I've loved since their creation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, July 12, 2008
This review is from: Molly Hatchet - Live In Hamburg 2004 (DVD/CD) (DVD)
For the most part a good DVD and concert. Disappointed that when they perform Rainbow Bridge I am anticipating the "jam" part that is on the studio CD and then the song stops. Huh? Play the whole song...that's what many fans have come to love is the continuous jam sessions on many of Molly Hatchet songs. They also didn't play the long version of Flames are Burning either. I have noticed they have also neglected the jam part in Fall of the Piece Makers in the past also. I would have rated this higher IMO if they had played the full versions of the foremention songs. Good sound quaility and production though!
