Molly and Her Dad

Molly is always making up stories about her dad. She sometimes says he's in the jungle, a famous artist and even says he's in space. He doesn't live with them like the other kids dads do. Her mother says she looks like him, but she wouldn't know that for sure because she's never seen him. There is something that is really going to happen and she wasn't making it up. She tells everyone that "My mom is going away for a week and my daddy is coming to look after me." All the children in her class are very curious about him.

"Hello my little Mollymaloola!" Humph, her name is Molly and she is not so certain about this dad. He is loud, cooks funny tasting pizza, sings, dances and is . . . well, he was different. They raced off to school the next day and she took him into the classroom. He told them all kinds of stories. There was a scary one, a sad one and "a silly story about a cow and a dog." Gee, this dad was kind of fun and reminded the class of someone else. Now just who could that person be?

I loved this little quirky, heartwarming father/daughter story. The art work is very vibrant and busy and adds a lot to the story. This is the kind of story that will tell children that even though one parent is not present in the household it does not mean they don't love them. "Hello, is that my MillyMollymaloolah? How are you, petal?" No doubt about it, his little petal surely loved her "daddywaddy daloolah." The reader will be absolutely charmed by this story!
