Molly's Newest Power, and Newest Adventure,
By George Buttner "Agent0042" (Dayton, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine (Hardcover)
"Molly Moon is back from the future-- and this time, she can read minds."
Sometimes, to lose something is to find something. In Molly's newest adventure, she's certainly trying to find something. When things left off, Molly learned a stunning secret about her past, and someone she never knew. This time around, she's trying to find that person, but their fate is something worse than she ever imagined and it's going to take some new power and all of her daring and her courage to unravel this plot. The opening of the book sees Molly feeling somewhat depressed. Let's just say that she's grown somewhat used to the idea of settling into something resembling a normal life and isn't eager to place herself or those she loves in more danger. But ultimately Molly does what it is right. And the fact that this is *her* adventure sets a different tone from the past stories, when she was rather dragged into danger. Let's just say that Molly is finally taking control of her destiny. And once again, her friend Rocky is along to help her, as is her precious pug, Petula, who must also find new depths of courage and power if they're all to survive this journey. The story zips along, making for another exciting read. This story features a fun new cast of characters, with some unexpected reversals and twists. Just what is this mysterious mind-machine hinted at in the title? And how will Molly's thrilling new power manifest itself? You'll have to read to find out! So what's next for Molly? Teleportation? Some other power we can't even imagine? I can't read minds myself, so I can only guess, but I'll be eagerly waiting for Molly's next adventure.

The second best book I have ever read!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine (Hardcover)
This is a really good book! It doesn't quite match up to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but it is still a really good book! I have read all the other Molly Moon books, but none of them have been as good as this one! I could not put this book down! I am trying to get all my friend's to read the series but so far only my best friend's brother has read the first book and he loved it! If you do not read this book you do not know what you are missing!!

Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine,

This review is from: Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine (Hardcover)
I read the first few Molly Moon books when I was home sick from school a few years ago. Turns out, I needed some mindless fluff fiction in my life, so despite being a senior in college, this is what I read today. I wasn't expecting much, the first few books were enjoyable in a feverish haze, but not all that memorable. But mindless fluff was what I wanted, and mindless fluff was what I got. The animal sidekicks are always a bit much for me, but it was an interesting albeit predictable plot. I was surprised that they didn't exactly pull an evil twin maneuver. I think this book series would translate well into movies. Also, if any Nerdfighters read this, evil baby orphanage, amirite?

A Book Kids Beg to Read,

This review is from: Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine (Paperback)
We found a hardback copy of this book in a used bookstore for a bargain price so decided to take a chance with it. What a great purchase! I require my kids to read an hour a day during the summer and my eight year old was so excited about the story in this book she asked if it was ok if she read more than an hour. I don't think there is any better recommendation for a book than that!

The rare book about a girl that boys will love, too!,
By
This review is from: Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine (Paperback)
Huge kudos to author Georga Byng for creating something all too rare in kid lit these days: a book with a strong female protagonist that boys will actually want to read. My 7-year-old son is completely entranced with the story - which also involves princesses (bratty, which doesn't offend the boys) and a pink cat-spider (just the right mix of girly and creepy for both sexes to appreciate), in addition to more traditionally "boy" fare such as time travel, hypnotism and a memory-sucking mind machine. Love, love, love it!

A fabulously irresistible page-turner,
By KidsReads (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Molly Moon, Micky Minus, & the Mind Machine (Paperback)
Eleven-year-old Molly Moon, hypnotist and time-traveler, has recently found her parents and learned she has a twin brother, kidnapped shortly after birth. Along with her friend Rocky and canine pal Petula, Molly plans to go back in time to rescue her brother. There is no time to tell her parents, and they would just try to talk her out of it. So, armed with a compass, a ketchup sandwich, her time-travel crystals and not much else, the three set off to find the brother Molly never knew about, much less knew.
Molly, Rocky and Petula travel back in time to the hospital where the twins were born. Present-day Molly has no trouble finding herself and her twin brother or spotting the moment he is taken from the nursery. But the kidnapper is a skilled time-traveler, and to save her brother, Molly and her friends have to travel hundreds of years into the future. There they find Micky Minus, as the twin was named by his captor, hostage of the evil Princess Fang who forces him to study science and philosophy only to suck out his knowledge with a giant mind machine. The action is swift and non-stop as Molly tries to free her brother from Princess Fang's clutches. She meets up with a sympathetic nurse and a mutated and ousted royal family who lend their help. But are they a match for the demented child princess who has hypnotized an entire country and brutalized countless others? Along the way Molly discovers she has the power to read minds, which, along with the help of the quirky supporting cast, just may save them all. Molly is brave but humble, a heroine of character and kindness. Her adversary, Princess Fang, is cruel and bizarre and a great villain to root against. MOLLY MOON, MICKY MINUS AND THE MIND MACHINE is a fabulously irresistible page-turner --- a fun and action-packed story about family, friendship and the powers residing in even the most unlikely child. --- Reviewed by Sarah Rachel Egelman
