4.0 out of 5 stars Now I Love to Read!, March 31, 2004
This review is from: Molly's Boxed Set (The American Girls Collection) (Paperback)
I like the Molly books very much. They are some of the best books I've ever read. Valerie Tripp did a wonderful job telling a story about a young girl during World War II. Molly has an adventuresome spirit. I think just about any girl would enjoy the American Girls Collection. They are a big page turner. I could read an entire book in one day if I had the time. I've already read the complete Samantha series, which is my favorite so far. I never really liked to read until my grandmother gave me the American Girls books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy Birthday, Molly! (Book 4), July 17, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Molly's Boxed Set (The American Girls Collection) (Paperback)
I think this book is awesome! During war time, if you had a birthday like Molly did, you could still get a cake and special birthday presents at a party. Molly even got a puppy! During WWII, some English girls had to move out of their homes and away from their parents because England was too dangerous for them. Germany was bombing London. Emily was such a girl, and she thought about things very differently than Molly. Molly learned that it was hard to leave your family and go to a stranger's house. She also learned that war is not a game. It is very real for those who have to suffer through it. For Emily, nothing about the war was exciting, including blackout drills. You could compare Emily's life to the lives of children in Israel and Lebanon, where there is fighting now. It makes me feel very sad for the kids who are living there.

5.0 out of 5 stars My kids love these books and so do I., March 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Molly's Boxed Set (The American Girls Collection) (Paperback)
Each night, I read a chapter to my daughter, age 5 1/2, and my son, age 7. One reason they can't wait for me to return from my business trips is so they can find out what's going to happen to Molly next. My kids really enjoy the stories and all the characters. I think the writing is pretty good - appropriate and understandable for children - and the stories are fun and well-paced. "A peek into the past" at the end of each book is also fun to read with my kids. It's nice to show them how people lived in those days.

I never thought my kids would actually look forward to bedtime, but now they do!
