This is not a glib self-help book dispensing superficial advice. It has the virtue of being highly readable, but it is full of substance. It distills conflict theory into steps that can be understood and followed by family members experiencing conflict. Examples reflecting different types of situations and dynamics show how to translate the principles into practice. Read and reflect; if you are in a family experiencing inter-generational conflict, you will gain valuable insight. After I read the book, I bought copies for my sisters as well.

Mom always liked you best is a provocative and practical guide on how to avoid family conflict. As soon as i picked it up to begin reading---it truly was hard to put down. (Probably because I was in the middle of a family feud) I loved all the examples I found the book helpful I like step by step examples, suggestions, and guidlines there were plenty. I think its a must read especially for all of us who are trying to survive in blended families!

I was dissapointed in this book - there was only about two or three helpful hints. With lots of repetition - rephrasing of the same point (the need for communication) over and over. Its pretty basic and common sense. I expected to see more dialog between sibblings. I would not recommend.
