comfortable and supportive,

This review is from: Mom-Ez Maternity Back Support - Belt (Apparel)
This belt was purchased for my third pregnancy. My midwife suggested a maternity belt because my abdominal muscles are not as strong as they used to be. She believed using one would help to avoid allowing the baby to malpresent. Since I was thinking of buying one anyway (I had a lot of back discomfort with my second child's final trimester) her urging was all I needed.I am so very glad I got this belt. It is quite comfortable, and has really helped relieve my backache. The first two days made my back hurt more, as my muscles adjusted to having the support they needed. The difference in comfort level between this pregnancy and my previous two is remarkable. Also, since this baby was a partial transverse (laying sideways) AND a frank breech (legs folded up in front of it so the butt is presenting) before wearing the belt, I am convinced it did play a role in having the baby move into its present vertex (head down) presentation. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I have to remove it every time I use the "facilities". But that is a minor annoyance well made-up for by its benefits.

awesome!,

This is an awesome product. I'm carrying twins, so the load is unbelievable - my twins are at least 2 pounds each, not counting the placentas and amniotic fluid of each. I'm quite small (5' 2"), and it was such a relief to put this on. I felt like I was being gently hugged and my back no longer hurt. So why did I give it only 4 stars? Because the velcro near the front would rub against the sensitive skin of both my thighs, right at the crease. It hurt, but I just put a pair of my husband's socks to cushion it. It's heaven sent, so I don't really mind the socks. It adds to the cushioning in front, around the belly. I highly recommend this! Definitely worth it!

I was 5 months pregnant with twins when I found this support. I had just been put on a week's bed-rest from round ligament pain, and I had seen this item in a flier in the local pharmacy before I was on couch arrest. I decided to give it a try- and within minutes after I put this thing on, I could feel the easing of the pain in my abdomin, my back & my hips. I am now 31 weeks pregnant, and this has helped me stay mobile. I have noticed that if I wear this brace during the day at work, I have less back pain & less stomach pain from the weight of my boys. I have found that if I wear it while shopping, I can stay on my feet longer and with much much less pain during & when I am done shopping. (although now I am so big, I don't go shopping much except on line!) It doesn't fix the entire problem of back stress & round ligament stress- but it does help. Also, in the model I have, it has a pocket in the back of the brace that I use to put re-useable ice packs during the day, if I am aching more than usual. It could probably be used for the re-useable heat pads if a person preferred.Only drawbacks to this item is that the velcro patches can scrape & scratch the belly & legs. The borders where the velcro is stitched to the fabric tends to curl outward a bit, and the hook part of the product also pokes through the hem of the binding. (This is even after washing & drying the belt as recommended-- the drying being by air only) For the most part, if you wear the support over clothing, it fixes this problem & it is reasonably comfortable. It can get hot to wear if you are pregnant through the summer, but again- the ice packs helped. All in all, if you are miserable & aching-- this is a good product to purchase & try. It might help- and since it is a support brace, it could be tax deductable depending on your tax circumstances. If it doesn't work for you-- there is always an option to return it within a reasonable amount of time!

Say "Good-bye" to the pain, but be ready for a bit of discomfort,

I have been very pleased with this maternity belt. I am in the third trimester of my 5th pregnancy. This is my first pregnancy using any belt, and it has been a great relief at times. Some days I don't need to wear the belt at all. Other days I find that the ligaments (or something!) low down on my belly begin to ache and even hurt. My options then are: 1) go lay down (not a very practical option with 4 other young children to take care of) or 2) put on my maternity belt. I have seriously felt the pain in my abdomen/ligaments subside within one minute of putting on the belt. It's great! If I wear the belt for 3 or more hours, then it does begin to feel a bit uncomfortable. I have never found that I really needed to wear it longer than that. The discomfort of wearing the belt is comparable to wearing tight jeans. The jeans aren't so bad, but when you change into sweat pants at the end of the day, it is more comfortable. It is fairly discreet, but not totally invisible under clothing. I don't feel like that has been a problem though. I always wear the belt over an undershirt. I imagine it would cause some rubbing and chaffing if worn in direct contact with the skin. Overall - a great investment!

a necessary evil,

When I got this in the mail I was excited because my belly muscles hurt a lot if I walk or stand around too much at a time. Then I put it on and I thought I was going to send it back because it was so bulky and big. Then I took another look at what was else offered (for support bands) and realized I had probably chosen the best one because I had already done the research and the others either have too much coverage and extras (like suspenders) or too little (like not much coverage and not much support) in comparison. I decided to try it for a few days since I could not see any other option. I have realized this is what I needed. It has made it so that I don't have pain anymore. I do have a Bella Band (which I owned first) that I put under it so that the Velcro doesn't touch my skin and that has worked very well. My two problems are, with summer coming I am worried about how hot I will be and, I hate how easily it moves up when I sit down.

Relieves Back Pain - Particularly good for walking and standing!,
By
This review is from: Mom-Ez Maternity Back Support - Belt (Apparel)
I bought this product in size Small while in my 5th month. Although it takes some getting used to, I've found the support stays at the back and the the expansion bands on the sides great assets that similar products do not offer. I'd always had strong stomach muscles and never had lower back pain until becoming pregnant. This product has relieved much of the stress/lower back pressure I feel while walking and standing. Prior to having used this, my 3 mile walks forced me to hold my belly up to help relieve the pressure on my back. Now with just 6 weeks to go, I use it every day...sometimes just for sitting to instill better posture.True, it does get annoying if you wear it next to the skin as it can scratch, but I usually wear it over a tank/jeans with another shirt/fleece so it is not a problem. Also it does require regular adjustments if you are shifting from sitting to standing positions, but I think that's OK given the support it offers overall.

This is my second time purchasing this item. I used it during my first pregnancy and it was wonderful, since I carried my son really low. Before I got the support belt I literally carried his head in one hand and used the other for carring items. It also helps with posture and support for those long days of continuous walking and standing. I worked until the end of my pregnancy with ease after getting this belt during my last trimester. Very nice product.

I purchased this belt after looking at several on line and reading reviews. I also emailed the seller to find the exact dimensions of the product. The large is 65 inches long. The widest part of the belt, which rests on the back, is 8 inches and the narrowest part is 4 inches, which is near the ends. The XL is approximately 72 inches long. The width is the same as the large. The belt is as advertised, soft and has stays in the back to support, it does have to be readjusted sometimes when changing positions from standing or sitting or getting in and out of the car, but overall, very helpful in taking strain off my lower back. I would recommend this to anyone with lower back pain.

I used this belt for four pregnancies after first trying a cheap maternity belt that was about 3-inches wide. I don't think there is a perfect belt that will stay in exactly the right place when you have a huge protruding belly and lead an active life with continually sitting/standing/walking. But this belt really does help relieve a lot of the discomforts that can occur - especially during the time mom's hormones kick in gear to allow for the pelvis to expand. As with any belt made with velcro, you will have to make sure that the velcro is completely covered or it can be scratchy against the skin. I am sure this belt saved me many days/hours of pain. Let's face it, the last trimester is uncomfortable and there's really not anything that will take that away. This belt will at least help. I even slept with it on!
