I presented this book to my mom for Mother's Day and nothing has ever made me more happy than the look of delight that spread across her face when she flipped through and came across a page with a picture of herself as a teenager smiling back up at her. The book is well-crafted with beautiful design elements and a varied selection of photographs depicting mothers of different ethnicities, eras, and personal styles. My Mom, Style Icon features Piper's distinctive voice: fiesty yet genuinely respectful. The book's square shape makes it appear petite, but it is hefty and thick with many pages, giving it the unusual feel of a treasured album warranting requiring delicate handling.

This is the first time anyone in my family has ever been included in a published book and I am so grateful that my mom's photo was one that Piper chose to include in her fantastic debut book based on her blog of the same name. This is a book that we will cherish forever, passing down to the generations after generations so that a century from now our great-great(-great) grandchildren can be honored with a tiny glimpse of the woman that gave life so that they would be given life too.

I'm usually a fan of fiction, but the combination of Ms. Weiss' snappy writing and stylish eye made this book an irresistible purchase. Flipping through these pages was a real treat. Like many of the moms featured in My Mom Style Icon, my mom had me in the '70's. And with every section I read, I got more nostalgic for the pictures I remember seeing of her while I was growing up. Headbands, bellbottoms, striped bikinis--this book reminded me that my mom rocked it all before I came along and gave me a new appreciation for the sheer beauty of the woman who raised me. This book is a perfect gift for yourself--and for mother's day. Buy two!

i really did buy this for my mom and then went back and ordered one for myself. this book is like finding the most amazing photo album in a thrift store - even if you don't know these women (and some names you will recognize) you will find yourself falling in love with each photograph and all the thoughtful stories behind them. and the best part is that even if your mom isn't in the book you can still submit her photo to the blog and cross your fingers maybe another book will come out. i found a great photo of my mom in a full on kelly green romper with a yellow scarf on her head and taped it to the last page of the book when i gave it to her for mother's day. i am not sure she realizes she's not actually in the book b/c the woman has not stopped talking about it since. this book is so fun and i'm so happy i found it!

A wonderful look at some amazing women as seen through dozens of family photos. It's the perfect gift, and one that will be enjoyed by everyone who had a mother who made an impression on those around her.

Who doesn't love looking at old photographs of women from the 60s dressed to the nines in fashions we'd give our right arm for - if only our moms had kept them! I follow Piper's blog and was expecting a book full of these fabulous photos, but what I found was so much more - the story we all share of discovering our mother for the stylish, glamorous, vibrant woman she was, and still is, before she became "mom". This is a perfect Mothers Day gift!

For every girl that has ever stumbled across an old, classic picture of mom and for every mom who wants their daughters to know that they too knew what it meant to be a goddess, this book is an absolute must have for every mom and daughter. What a great way to share the love for our moms and our fashion for generations to come!

i purchased this item for my mother because she has always been so well dressed and always in style. even growing up, we never saw our mother in her pajamas or without her hair and make-up done. i thought she would enjoy it. i was a bit disappointed in this book because it does not have as many pictures as i was hoping but it's still a nice gift anyway.

What first drew me to this book was the cover art. The book feels like an beautifully curated scrapbook. The photos are abundant and gorgeous, the colors are vivid, and the writing is thoughtful and funny. The book features photos and stories of women from all walks of life (some celebrity, but mostly non-celebrity), most of which were sent in by their daughters and sons. It's a fun book to give as a gift for anyone that love vintage fashion, but it would also make a great gift for a mom who grew up before the 1990's. Love it! I hope she comes out with more in the future. Oh, and her blog is really fun too! [...]

When I heard about this project I knew that I had to submit my own mom's photo for consideration. Thankfully, it was accepted. When I saw the final product I was even more excited since my mom is alongside some seriously glamorous, stylish, self-assured and, dare I say, sexy moms. It's fitting since this book is the complete opposite that I felt as an opinionated teenager. Clothes shopping with my mom was a drag. She'd suggest something that "looked nice" and I'd roll my eyes. Of course being a teenager is all about being a contrarian,so it wasn't until I became an adult that I looked at my mom's old photos and began to admire her style.

I think lots of us can't conceive that our moms were at one time young, vibrant and exciting--women who had concerns other than packing lunches, driving kids to school or grounding us when we acted up. This book is an acknowledgment & celebration of the mom that once was (and is likely still there if we look!).

It makes a great gift for Mother's Day, especially with a gift card to a clothing store, a salon or spa.

I just wish there were a few blank pages at the front or back to add my mum's pictures in there, too!
