5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing first major-label release
I picked up this CD on the release date and I wasn't disappointed. The album doesn't slow down at all. Brought to us from the label that discovered MxPx, and produced by GGGarth (Rage Against the Machine, Kittie), the quality of sound is unmatched. Clear everything- vocals, intricate guitar work, and solid drum and bass guitar sound that doesn't overpower. This whole...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so much
Unfortunately Spoken has gone from being a band at the top of my list, and through the past couple of years have dwindled into the region of... yawn. I rarely, almost never post negative reviews, only in special circumstances, if I am passionate about the badness. This time I am. Spoken started out as a band with a sound similar to Rage Against the Machine, and were...

This whole album sounds great in my premium car system. A couple of tunes are my favorites so far:

Track 2, Promise, has been highly rated on mp3.com's rock charts for several weeks. It's a solid track with a very positive message and a melody that doesnt stop going through my head.

Track 4, Falling Further, has an amazing sound. The intensity builds throughout the song, the latter half having a very memorable driving guitar section and rhythmic vocals. I consider this to be my favorite.

If you're looking for a rock band with a very distinct sound and a positive message, pick this one up-- you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spoken-Different style same greatness, December 19, 2003
This review is from: A Moment of Imperfect Clarity (Audio CD)
Spoken comes back with thier 5th album...A moment of Imperfect Clarity...thier past albums have all been great and I was afraid that this might give in to the pop rock that most other bands have gone into but no...Spoken does change thier style a little but in a great way...gone is the rapcore in comes the awesome harmonies and still awesome lyrics....

1.Across these waters-Possibly their best song...short but awesome screaming...

2.Promise-First radio hit, great lyrics about how God will take care of you dont worry anymore...

3.A breath in the fog-Awesome song and I love the harmonies in it and two part in the end...

4.Falling further-Slows it down a little but still goes strong with the lyrics...

5.Sleep well tonight-Awesome song with great lyrics aND A GREAT idea behind it...

6.A world away-A little too slow for me....not used to this by SPoken...

7.Learning to forget-Best song on the album...great vocals possibly longest and highest scream by a dude

8.In dreams-Revs it up with this song awesome lyrics and vocals...

9.Seasons change-Song written by Spoken and friends...I like it but Not that much

10.Remembered-another one written with friends but this time they catch my attention awesome lyrics...

11.How long-Great song...slow one by Spoken but they do it right htis time..it really capture the christian faith...

Greatest christian rock album in a while...buy it

4.0 out of 5 stars Spoken perfectly, November 28, 2004
This review is from: A Moment of Imperfect Clarity (Audio CD)
What a great disc from a virtually unknown, underrated band! It is different from past offerings. The breaks aren't quite as busy and complex. The vocals have much less screaming. But the result is a beautiful mix of emotion driven rock and roll with profound lyrics and solid musical chops! Spoken has a live show that rcks your socks off. I am looking forward to seeing them perform these new tracks and seeing how well they pull them off with their endless energy. Very solid offering from start to finish!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, simply amazing, August 18, 2006
This review is from: A Moment of Imperfect Clarity (Audio CD)
After hearing their song "Promise" on the internet, I immediately knew that Spoken had something good going. Little did I know how much of an understatement that is.

These guys are amazing, and from Track #1 all the way to the last song, they keep bringing great songs and never cease to amaze you. The caliber of the music and mixing is incredible. Kudos to Tooth&Nail for bringing another hit to us.

Some may say (and understandably so) that Matt Baird's vocals are an aquired taste. While this CD is not at all the standard within the hardcore/screamo genre, Matt's vocals sometimes get screechy and a little tense. For me this brings a whole new level to the songs that I love, but some may find it grating and annoying.

Musical attributes aside, what makes this CD so great is the lyrics. Every song on there is either glorifying God or helping someone with a trial. It's amazing how they are able to create a perfect combination of lyrics and melodies to create an album full of near unbeatable songs. The only album that really comes close is Spoken's newest release "Last Chance to Breathe".

Lets just be honest ...this album is brilliant and Matt Baird a genius. His vocals are amazing and the harmonies smooth yet raw . I think this is the best of their last 3 albums ...."last chance to breath " comes close to this one . Spokenare great because I never get tired or bored of listening to them ....they are timeless

This cd is perfect! It sounds different from other hard Christian music out there. It is very melodic and it still rocks. The Vocals are great! After buying this one check out their " Echoes of the spirit dwell" cd! It is also mind blowing! I listen to a lot of different styles of music and this is to me the best hard band in Christian music today, and possibly in the secular arena also! Do yourself a favor and buy it!

This review is from: A Moment of Imperfect Clarity (Audio CD)
Dude, if you're into rock, you will like "A Moment of IMperfect Clarity". Nice harmonics, beautiful lyrics, and straight rock guitars laced with a little punk. On top of all this, the guys from Spoken have a message to share with you and they are the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Support them, don't steal their CD...I mean, download.

*I heard about Spoken a few years ago on Christianrock.net and I think they're AWESOME. This album does sound more mellow than they're usual stuff, but I still think it's great. I love how this album is so melodic and honest. That's nothing new of course. These guys have always put their heart & soul into their material and it truly shows. I love their hardcore sound, but this album definitely shows a different side to them. I fell in love with track #2, "Promise" the 1st time it played through.

**I personally think this is one of their best albums yet. BUY this one along with their others. You WON'T regret it.

***SPOKEN! Can't wait to check you guys out in Jax, FL ...Keep rockin' 4 Christ. Everyone, take care. <<LHR>>
