3.0 out of 5 stars Could not empathize with these characters!, October 16, 2005
This review is from: A Moment of Madness (Regency Romance) (Paperback)
I found it very hard to warm up to the characters in this book. I did not get any depth of feeling from Georgiana that would lead her to abandon the morals of the times and spend a passion filled night with Charles. Yet she did. And on Charles side, I could not find it in my heart to like a man who would proposition a woman after the frightening events that occurred in the inn (a fire set to conceal a theft). He knew her name and never tried to find her. She knew his name and never attempted to let him know of her dilemma.

So off Georgiana went to have a baby, pretending to be a widow - with an assortment of servants, doctor, etc... to tend her. She was pregnant, lonely, missing her sister and who should appear but that love of her life, Charles - who until the end could not bring himself to decide if he loved her or if he could raise the child of another.

Mrs. Thomas (the companion) and Mrs. Harcourt (Charles mother) were the strong women of this book and more interesting than the main characters.

An ok read but no gripping tale - other Barbara Allister books are better.

4.0 out of 5 stars it was a great read, April 17, 2004

This review is from: A Moment of Madness (Regency Romance) (Paperback)
This story has brought me back to reading barbara allister. I felt drawn to the characters of charles and georgiana. the passion georgiana shows for charles at the inn draws you in. She realizes she may never see him again, but she feels it is worth the moment of madness. I feel it was a rare treat. It is a story I could read again
