From Chapter 6. ESCAPE
Layah followed a bend in the trail ahead of her. An uneasy feeling came over her and she looked up. A large dromaeosaur stared back at her. They both stopped dead in their tracks. Layah knew what the hunter was thinking. It was calculating the distance, the size of the prey, the potential for a successful capture. It turned and for a moment it looked as if it would leave its younger cousin alone. But something, perhaps a pang of hunger, changed its mind. Layah saw the muscles in the hind legs tense even before it sprang into the air, twisting toward her. By the time it turned, she was already running back along the trail.
Layah knew that she did not have the speed necessary to outrun the dromaeosaur. Yet with a head start she had time to look for a place where her smaller size would give her the advantage. Her ears told her what her eyes did not want to see. The dromaeosaur was steadily gaining on her.

I liked reading about what the dinosaur did during the day. The story was interesting. I learned a lot of things, and the pictures are really pretty. This was a new dinosaur for me. I liked the section at the end that told about how the fossils were discovered in China. I liked every bit of it.

Loved the way the author drew the reader into the story through the eyes of the Sinosauropteryx, Layah. The story was well developed and action packed.
