Excellent songwriting and Broussard's simple and articulate vocals make every one of the tracks on this CD an enjoyable story.
There are elements of matured blues, r&B, folk and funk woven throughout. Broussard appears to showcase a diverse vocal and musical style with tracks ranging from slow, folky ballads to more energetic groovy funk. You can hear the musical influences of Stevie Wonder on one track, smooth jazz elements of George Benson on another and vocals that sound like Lenny Kravitz on another. One thing is for sure, these accoustic and vocal elements mix well to make one great debut CD. Some great improvisational vocals add an element of extreme depth and spontaneity to this well crafted production. The lyrics although somewhat spiritually thought-provoking and life affirming, are still fun to listen to. You will be singing after just one listen.

Definable Talent.....,

This kid has got it....His first CD is just wonderful. It has a lot of soul, integrity and class. It sounds like he has done his homework and can now let the music out...it's just a natural flow.... French Cafe and MY God are so soothing and smooth. The entire CD gives us a taste of his Wisdom and his play. Some CDs just stick in your head and sort of attach themselves to your aura. This is one of them. If you have forgotton what "Talent" smells like, Marc Broussard will allow you to breathe the aroma of sweetness again. Good show Marc....and much appreciated.

Soulfull, Acoustic, Lyrical,

Marc has a light uplifting voice that shows his soulfull feeling through the album. I am yet to see him live, but i cannot wait to get the chance. The strings on a few of the songs are a great choice, and other additions like this show that he is not a cookie cutter type artist. I gave this because i ordered it thinking it would be something i could put on in the backround and enjoy, and when i got it i found that i didn't do any work while i was listening, i just sat there and listened to his acoutic lyrical sound. Excellent.

Marc Broussard is one of the best. I have 2 of his cd's and I love each and every song. I got to see him at Shank Hall in Milwaukee Nov. 9th, 2005 and I was in awe. With this much talent I can't belive that he is still so young. His band is also great. I left that concert overwhelmed, his music just moves you. Everytime I play his music for someone new, they go out and buy his music right away. I think that everyone should buy this cd and Carencro, you will love it!

Talented artist shines with his debut...,
This review is from: Momentary Setback (Audio CD)
Two minutes into playing this album, you begin to realize just how good a musician Marc Broussard really is. Three songs later, your estimation jumps again. This album is one of those rare debuts where the pure talent and songwriting outhsines the promise of a new artist. Marc Broussard's debut album Momentary Setback is a great album from an artist that we will be hearing more from in the future.
Broussard's voice ranges from jazzy to bluesy to pure New Orleans. It is a voice that instills the music with energy, a hard task considering the incredibly talented musicians playing on this album. Listen to French Cafe, which purely on words alone is a bit weak, but Broussard turns into a ode to love. The Prayer, Jeremiah, and the Wanderer are all outstanding and there is truly not a bad song on this album. Well worth the purchase.

I had the pleasure of discovering Marc at a Gavin DeGraw concert and ever since the moment he burst onto stage, I've been hooked. Although I was just able to buy this cd, I have now seen him perform almost every song on the cd live and let me tell you, while the CD is AMAZING, seeing Marc live is even better. Buy the cd, and his newer release Carencro, then go see him live. There's no one out there right now with as much talent as Marc has.

Absolutely, Positively Amazing,

I drove two hours to see Maroon 5 perform at Myrtle Beach House of Blues, expecting a great show from them. Marc was the first one to perform before Gavin DeGraw and Maroon, and had he been the last, the entire trip and all money spent would have not only been worth it, but a bargain. Marc's set was EASILY the highlight of the night, and he is one of the most talented artists I've heard in my entire life, with an eclectic feel, an unbelieveable voice, and the most energetic, passionate stage presence i've ever seen. HE IS AMAZING, and after buying the live CD of his HOB set that night, I knew I had to have his studio album. It hasn't left my CD changer since I bought it, and i'm sure it won't for a long time. Not to mention, after meeting him after the show, I can honestly say that Marc is a genuinely nice guy. Not only is Marc going to be HUGE one day, but he deserves it. BUY THIS CD, you will most certainly not regret it.

I first heard this artist when a song of his was used on a soap opera I watch. It blew me away. This cd and his other cd Carencro are both wonderful I especially love the Carencro cd. His voice is a wonderful mix of blues and soul. He really puts alot of feeling in his music and you can almost feel his emotions as he sings. I think he is a little known treasure and I would purchase more of his music when it is available for purchase I rate his music five stars.
